Question, If I unlock my audiovox smt5600, will I have to do the unlock again after a rom update? Also, is the 38.00 service the only way to unlock the phone? I'm going to be using it on T-Mobile. Also...does T-mobile have the ability to unlock this phone?

is there any fucntionality that will be negatively affected by unlocking the 5600? or will this simply allow me just to use any sim card in it? ...

It does exactly what it says it does...it SIM Unlocks the phone and nothing more.....

on modaco they have a free orange c500 unlocker and supposedly they'll be getting a free smt5600 unlocker eventually, hopefully $40 is ridiculous.

a free unlocker would be stupendous!! btw, is there a free program i can use to back up all the stuff on my phone? i hear that unlocking also results in a hard reset, so if i do that i would like everything backed up, just that one time, you know.
