Treo 650 MIDI Ringtones?

I'm trying to down load several MIDI ringtones to my Treo 650. I've followed the instructions on PalmOne's web site to e-mail the .mid files to myself, use VersaMail to retrieve them and to download the files. The instructions say that the Palm database will recognize the files and add them to the MIDIRings (I believe that's the right name) database once the file is downloaded, but it does not seem to work for me. When I go into Preferences, etc. all the factory ring tones are there but mine are not there. I've tried a soft reset also but still with no luck. What am I missing here? Thanks!

I have successfully downloaded a few midi ring tones to my Treo 650. I got them all from www.mididb.com. Once I selected the ring tone I wanted (after reviewing them on a desktop first), I was given the option to save the downloaded tone onto my SD card or onto the device. I chose to place them on the device. Thereafter, I went to my phone preferece and selected the one I wanted.

Good luck!

I thank David for his reply, but it really doesn't address my issue directly. I have some very specific MIDI files on my own hard drive that I want to get onto my Treo 650. According to instructions on the PalmOne web site, it looks as if mailing them to myself is my only viable option, and I cannot seem to get this to work properly. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. These files should have a .mid extension, correct, or does the Treo 650 somehow expect to see an extention of .midi (I haven't tried that yet)?

My apologies. I wasn't clear. On your desktop, in the Palm folder, there is an application that is used to transfer files from the desktop to the Treo via Hotsync. I use a Mac, so I'm not sure what is is called on the Windows end. Essentially, all you do is drag and drop your Midi files into that application.

The only problem is that when you do it this way, it may install them to the SD card - assuming you have one. You can always just transfer them to the device after. Give it a try and see.
