To ensure that you qualify for this upgrade, please provide us with your phone's IMEI number and corresponding wireless number. Originally posted by rayhurst xplode, i do have a Cingular Mpx220 and I did preregister, but i still get the error. when do preregistered, did it ask you for your IMEI? it didn't ask me before but now it does. what i don't understand is why i couldn't check my IMEI if it thinks i did not preregister - it's almost as though they are not going to give out the update unless you preregistered. |

Originally posted by crash55 I was thinking, maybe some people just switched their sim card from their old phone and put it in their MPx220, then the MPx would not be in Cingulars data banks. The possiblity exist that Cingular did this to you because, the rep was lazy and didn't enter the new phone to your account. Maybe you got an exchange phone and your old IMEI is still in Cingulars system. I just thinking of possiblities. When things go wrong they do it at the worst possible way and time. |

Originally posted by rayhurst i am using the correct email address, but just to make sure i tried all 3 of my emails and still get the error. i am positive i am typing the correct imei because i've checked and rechecked it. plus, i've tried from 3 different computers (i am entering the imei without the dashes, but just to make sure, i've also tried the dashes). still no luck. i switched from Sprint to Cingular for this phone so my Mpx220 is the 1st and only Cingular phone/SIM i've had. i know i signed up for the update when the register link was first posted on this site a month or 2 ago. did that link send anyone a confirmation email to verify that you signed up? i don't remember getting one. even if Moto believes i did not preregister, shouldn't we all be able to check our phones to make sure they will be upgradable? or is Moto only going to release the update to those that preregistered on a trial basis, then see what happens and if all are happy, release it to everyone? seems like a strange way to release an update. |

Originally posted by MDPuckett84 Just wondering, but those of you that cant use the new link successfully, did you put in your mailing address for the pre-registration? I did and it worked for me, and i got my cingular branded phone off ebay. I noticed the "pre-register" page has changed to ask for IMEI numbers now too. |

Originally posted by badbob001 Microsoft has never released an update for any devices. All updates must come from the manufacturer of the device, which in this case would be Motorola. Unless I'm missing some announcement about Microsoft having a new policy of offering Windows Mobile 5 upgrades directly to consumers. |

Originally posted by cortez i purchased my phone from BestBuy and I AM NOT a Cingular customer. i did, however, have Cingular send me a replacment device in late 2004. nonetheless, i was able to register my IMEI. the first time it was rejected, but after using a different email address it was accepted...fyi, my phone was purchased unlocked. go figure... EDIT: forgot to mention, that i did preregister for update notifications and I DID NOT receive the email listed in this thread. |

If they support it they will register it....well there supposed to but I can't guarentee anything. |
....odd.

Originally posted by Omega2008 I don't know....maybe because I am a high-paying customer. I hope its not that reason....ever single Cingular customer deserves the same treatment but I have heard that they do "special" things for customers who have a big account with them....Not sure if its true but yet again the rep that did it for me was very nice. |
