Bought a slider se44 off ebay. Couldn't get it programmed when I took it in to us cellular. Emailed the woman back and she said I don't know what's wrong! It worked perfect for me...I even used it with alltel! Well, thanks for telling potential buyers that you switched the software to a different company and us cellular doesn't do that anymore and the they said the only way to reprogram it back to us cell is for alltel to give them their unlock codes and they're not gonna do that! Any ideas on how to return it to its original state or should I just return it to its original owner?? By the way, it does have to us cellular logo on it.

The woman you purchased the phone off can contact and request the MSL (Master Service Lock) code from Alltel. With that US Cellular can program the phone or if you have the Data cable and the MSL you can program the phone yourself with the PST (Phone Service Tool)

I love uscc compared to the other services around here, but they don't seem to have the most knowledge. Maybe they're just a little lazy. If the answer doesn't show up in the computer or by a phone call to one person, they give up and say it can't be done. Not one person in either office around here has mentioned calling alltel and getting that msl. They say they can't flash it for me because they don't have the software for it anymore. They couldn't get it to work and I got it to make and receive calls. My question is, even though it sends and receives, the problem would still be this msl from alltel? And I'm pretty sure, but can I get the pst from this forum? I've searched so much, I've forgotten all the things I learned! I wonder, if alltel won't give it to her for whatever reason, can the msl be obtained somewhere else? I know when I called alltel about it, they didn't give a hoot what the problem was. Didn't ask for esn, didn't offer up any advice or info except, "buy another phone from uscc." Thanks alltel april

Got it! Is that the entire program I need? I'm waiting on the msl from the person I got the phone from. I hope they can get it for me. Can someone walk me through the process? I know I have to get a cable. Can I get one for a slider from radio shack?

I've heard of people getting the cable from Radio Shack, but I've never personnally seen one. I got mine off Ebay. Its a non-OEM USB type.... takes a slight bit of screwing around to get the software to connect but works fine once it detects the phone. There are plenty of walkthroughs posted for using the PST and Bitpim for the slider just do a search for one when the sites Search option is available again. =)

So if she doesn't get me the msl for this phone, is there a way to find it myself? Or am I screwed? I've had to temporarily activate an old moto v60 to use till I get this one up and running correctly. My daughter IS NOT happy about that!

If she can't get any sense out of calling Alltel, she might be able to get it off a sales clerk at one of Alltel's authorized dealers. They have the MSL for programming purposes (I would assume - Aliant's dealers up here do).
I've heard of people using Bitpim to find their MSL, I read it just the other day... Have a look around.
I'm assuming you've tried 000000 and 111111? If you press "1" six times on your phone you should see "Options" appear in the left tab. Press OK then select Programming from the list & try one of the codes above and see if you can get in. If the code is incorrect the phone will reboot. If it is correct it will say "Entering Service Programming.... " and loose signal. When you exit Service Programming the phone will reboot again. This is the code you will use with your PST to access all your phones programmable options.
