Sanyo MM-5600 Tips & Tricks

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: mobilepreacher

Hey guys, I wanted to start this thread to make it easy for those of us that have the 5600 to find all the latest hacks and tricks. The other threads seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle or are hard to follow. Lets build an information base on this great phone.

Posted by: mobilepreacher

With your phone closed and side key guard disabled, hold the volume button down until the flash turns on. It stays on until you push another button, which turns it off. Eaiser and brighter than opening up your phone and using the screen as a flashlight.

While it is a bummer that this phone is not #777 capable right now, I have an inexpensive solution. I explained to the reps in my store that I really need this service so here is what they did for me. I just pay the extra 10 bucks a month and got an extra line under a two year agreement, which includes unlimited vision because it has the same plan as my main phone. With the rebate i paid about 50 bucks for the 8200, which I now keep in my laptop case and use for #777 exclusively. I know its not the best option, but that is what I am doing.

just wanted to get on this list! I have a 5600 aswell just got it yesterday!

Please tell me that the MM-5600 is capable of being linked to a computer for internet access on the computer. I've used a Sanyo 8100 and PCS Connection Manager 2.0 to accomplish this for a few years now and I just ordered a MM-5600. Anyone have any results or feedback?

Posted by: mobilepreacher

You cannont use the 5600 at this point for connectivity. I have posted on this thread the best option right now if you own a 5600. Add a phone to your plan and get the 8200 and use that for connectivity. It will cost you 10 bucks a month. You better snag one of these internet connectivity abled phones before Sprint does away with them.

Has anyone found a decent holster? I've heard the one on ebay causes the card to pop in and out.

Posted by: mobilepreacher

I love the one I got from the sprint store. It fits perfectly and there are no design problems.

Ordered my new 5600 from Sprint on Monday, went to activate it yesterday and they show the ESN as stolen. What a joke. They are sending me another phone.

5600 Tips:
While playing ringers that have been synched from PC, you can use volume up or down to increase the volume of the ringer. Default is set very low.

Bitpim will work if you change the settings to MM-7400

When copying ringers in Bitpim, it'll produce an error when copying all. As a result, you can copy one at a time. Eventhough it gives you an error the file transfers successfully.

mobilepreacher,

I have PCS Connection Manager 2.0 installed and since the phone isn't activated yet, the error I received when trying to connect was "No valid Vision User Name found on your PCS Device." Everything else appears to synch with the PCS Connection Mgr software. I can get phone details, battery meter and it shows my phone's model as being SCP-5600/US, Version 1.010SP.

Are you able to get that much info.? I'm wondering if this phone really does support linking internet to a laptop.

How do you even sync ringers from the PC? When I hit sync ringers, it instantly says "No ringers downloaded from PC).

What driver should I use for Bitpim to detect the phone?

Posted by: DJ Frustration

I used Bitpim while phone was in Standby USB mode, not Mass Storage mode.

I cannot get mine to be found. Just keeps saying that it cannot detect phone.

How about the sync to PC, how did you do that?

Dude, Sprint does not carry a holster for the 5600. I called 5 stores near me and they all said the same thing. They don't make the holster for that phone yet. Only the leather case.

Posted by: BLAZEM25

They Had Holsters at the fort worth, tx store for the 5600. it was a official sprint store

Posted by: mobilepreacher

You are dead wrong. i have a case. I got it from the sprint store. It works perfectly. Sorry, you got bad info from the reps at your store. All I can tell you is that as I type this post, I am staring at my phone...in its case, snug and tight.

I think Tony is refering to a holster, not a case. If you do have a holster, post a picture of it.

The key word is "HOLSTER" not case. Those are to very different things.

I did breakdown and purchase a universal pouch (case).

This isnt really a tip for the actual phone, but when you get the 5600 try to get one that is made in Japan. They tend to have less problems. (this applies to pretty much any phone.)

Ebay sells a Clear holster for the Sanyo 5600 on SU people love it/

Posted by: mobilepreacher

I have some awesome Seinfeld clips for viewing on the M5600. I have edited and converted these clips. You can watch them for fun, or use them as ringers. Email me at pastorjoe@netzero.com if you would like me to send them to you.

Thanks for the good advice. I was able to get my phonebook transfer over to my 5600, but my ringers and my wallpapers won't transfer. It will go through the transfer process, but nothing shows up on my phone. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I have yet to see a 5600 not made in Japan. I had a 7400 that was made in China though

not to go off topic, but if you have a mini sd card can you record video clips straight to it, in increments of greater than 20-30 seconds? If not is there a phone that does have this capability?

I was wondering if I can set up more than one folder for pitures on the mini
sd card? Now I only have a folder named 100 Sanyo? any suggestions? Any site
to lookup?

Posted by: mobilepreacher

Using your usb cable, you should be able to set up any folders that you want on your mini SD card, just like any other mass storage device.

Posted by: liguy0001

thanks, but when I do that the phone does not recognize it

Posted by: UrbanDEV™

Is there a way to enable #777 in the 'hidden' system settings?

Posted by: Snagga

Yes u can save video right to the sd card, mine has 22hrs 40min of record time (1gig card)

And the clear holster on ebay works well but it does cause the sd card to pop out sometimes, it can be annoying.

I just wanted to say that I also have a HOLSTER for my 5600. It isnt specifically made for the 5600 but it fits just fine. Got it in the sprint store. I believe it said it was for Sanyo phones. It's blue leather with a clear front so you can see the outside LCD while it's in the holster. It's been great. When I first got it, the 5600 fit really tightly in it and it took a little while for the thing to loosen up so the phone can easily be inserted and removed. It's a great holster though.

Posted by: jonnet

Does anyone know how to install games via bluetooth dongle on the sanyo 750?

Thanks
Jonnet
