Extended battery 2200 mah Murgen Power

I received this "extended" battery the other day. I am using it now and franly I have not seen a 22% increase in lasting time (like I would expect from a 2200 vs 1800 mah battery).

Has anyone else used this battery and if so, are your results different from mine?

is this an aftermarket battery?

Yes it is. The origianl battery is 1800 mah and this was supposed to be 2200 mah. So far I am very disappointed.

Boo! Aftermarket sucks. For things like batteries, you should always use OEM. You don't want to risk getting a defective one that can blow up.. It's not like all non OEM ones do this, but using them can cause problems and even void warranties. Aftermarket aren't always as good (rather are generally not as good) as OEM ones. You should reconsider your purchase and spend the extra 10 bucks one a trustworthy one.

Well, I posted in here a while back about no buying the aftermarket batteries, especially for the Treo. I mean you're spending $400-$600 on a Treo, do you really want a generic battery for it? I mean 400 mAh really doesn't do much of a difference. I'd rather pay the extra money and get a battery I trust.

Of course, you could get a battery from a manufacturer that you can trust. While there have been many stories about poor quality aftermarket batteries, please keep in mind that the PDA manufacturers do not make the battery. They farm the job out to battery manufacturers. Now some of these manufacturers will sell the exact same battery under their own name. It could come from the exact same production line, but just be labeled differently.

But, then again, you could get a lemon or worse, one that is dangerous. How do you weed out the differences? Go with battery manufacturers that have been around for a while. For example, if I were to ask you if you would trust a battery made by Panasonic, how would you answer? Of course the answer would be yes. And Panasonic do make their own batteries. (Depends on model.) That is because they have a good reputation and have been around for a while.

Now, would you consider buying a battery from a company that will not even put their name on the battery? These exist. I would not try it though. How do you know it meets the specifications or where to turn even if you have problems?

All this speach is just to mention that while we are a battery distributor, we work with name brand companies. We do not market no-name batteries. Our principle supplier, Mugen Power, have been making batteries since 1979. A visit to www.aximsite.com, www.davesipaq.com or www.brighthand.com and you will see great reviews about Mugen Power batteries.

So, while being cautious about quality, it is sometimes a good and economical option to go with a third-party battery. The decision is always up to the customer.
