Hi,

Just bought this phone, Sharp 902SH, Actually how do u sort the phonelist.

I copied all the numbers from sim to phone and the the list is all mixed up.

I have over 300numbers, i don't want to create them all again.
My previous phone was Sony Ericsson S700i

Any ideas?

No, this doesn't help.

The guy told me that The list was sort by the order i enter the number, and he told me to use a mobile manager software to sort the phonelist i have and the copy them back...

Actually i will try this if this is the last option.
However, i don't know which mobile manager software that will work with 902SH.

and even if i sort it, i can't search names...
WHen i try to search(any letters), it will either jump to the last number or the first number on the list, so this is a really BIG problem!!!
Are u having the same?

no, my phone sorts the list and works fine. I didn't have to use the handset manager to make it work (my phone came with the handset manager).

when i select the "backup/restore" function in connectivity menu, do i backup all the numbers?

because when i open it with Outlook (Microsoft Outlook) I can just find my name and my information, i can't find my other phone numbers.

but when i open it with notepad... i saw my phonelist, but of course, it is all coded with other language.

I noticed similar issue on the XERA by Sharp GZ100, saving contacts using the first name field only, rendered the search useless, because the search function searched the last name field.

Try this , at least this works for me..
When you have the number/name from your sim card, copy them to your handset, and then in ur handset mode, you can see the name is located on the "first name" column. Now cut that and paste that onto your "last name" and "reading order" columns.
it will sort the phone list. I can search phone numbers too, however i don't know what i've done.. i can't search numbers for now suddenly

Oh, i got it working,

It is capitalize sensitive..

what it means is you have to use lower case in the "reading order"..
then you should be fine..

Please try try and have a look.

so i for example if i want all the names in my phone book to be sorted properly i have to do it like this

First name - blank
Last name - jeane cell

it will sort by the last name correct? also its cap sensitive so i should leave it lower case correct?

I don't think your way will work...
but for me.. do this..

First name: Amy Chan
Last name:
Reading: amy Chan

First name: Peter Wong
Last name:
Reading" peter wong

try this..

You've got the JP 902SH, that's why you're having trouble with the address book. It's designed for sorting Japanese names, not English ones

The reading column is a Japanese thing where instead of writing a Japanese name in Kanji (or Katakana), you write it completely in Hiragana. Because Kanji can't be alphabetically ordered but Hiragana can, the reading field is what sorts the address book.

Use the Handset Manager...
Plus macro software...
