Verizon not supporting VX8000 ?!!

I just purchased a Verizon LG VX800 phone. When I called technical support to find out how to use it as a data modem I was told it was not supported as a data modem!! I cannot fathom why they would sell a top end phone made by LG just for them that is not supported. Can anyone verify if this is indeed the case? I really like this phone but if I can't use it as a modem I will take it back. Fortunately I am within my 15 day return window.

They support the phone itself, but not the phones modem capability. But thats just a guess.

It is just like the cmd 8940m it comes with SD slot, but Verizon does not support the functions of the sd card. The just said the mfg offered it, but they do not support it. But of course they did get their say and have it crippled so you could not pull pictures from the card, only through GIN.

I'm guessing they don't want the excessive bandwidth that it would cause. Think of it. Wireless broadband for $15??? Who wouldn't?

Dishunc- I'm just curious what your setup is. I just got my VX8000 on Sunday and would appreciate the info.
