I was wondering if palm asked YOU to design to design the next GSM or CDMA treo how would u do it.

Personally I would do this for my CDMA treo.

A Small lcd display on the top where the sd card is to use as a look-down caller id display.

I would move the card to the side and add a rubber cover for protection.

I would put a user defineable windows like task bar (minus the start button) where it has a permanent signal strength voice/text indicator battery level.it be under any app and u would see it while using any app.

Then I would do like palm has now....with the 650 the 2-4 permeanent favorite buttons only removed when in apps.

1. I think that I would try and make it easier to dial a number while driving. It is difficult to do one handed operations on the Treo. I am not sure if this would require removing the mini keyboard (which I love), and replacing it with a regular phone keypad???

2. Built-in WiFi would be a bonus.

3. Cam is pretty good, but a 1.3 megapixel would be nice.

4. Louder speaker-phone.

It would have to be a flip phone. I currently have a Samsung I500 on Sprint and was anxiously awaiting the I550, but that fell through. Company is switching to Cingular so I am getting a Treo 650.

Anyway, a flip phone with outside diplay, sd slot, email ability and web surfing.
