What's the most reliable, tough, quality GSM phone?

I need to get a GSM phone, and I'm having a hard time choosing one. It needs to be 900/1800 for overseas (could be dual-band or tri-band).

I want a reliable, tough, high-quality phone. Features and gadgets aren't so important. I've had lots of different phones in the past, including nokia, motorola, samsung, kyocera. The worst was probably the first gsm Motorola Startac 7000g, and the best was probably the Startac 7868w (cdma).

What would you suggest?

I think the Moto E398 is very durable...

Do you need the 850 for the US? I'd go with the V635 and it's quad band. I'd get a unlocked one so you can switch to whoever gives you a deal you cannot refuse.

The V635 is tough?

I only need 900/1800. I won't be using it in the U.S. (it could have 850 or 1900, but I won't use it).

Yes, the V635 is pretty tough. A lot of metal like the V600. I'd say it's a cousin of the V600 with EDGE and Transcard added.

Turtle: In that case, and triband with both 900/1800 would do. Nokia has plenty of them. I didn't have good experience with Nokia in the past, a lot of buzzing noise. But I haven't try any of the newer one. If you want flip, then I'd stick with Moto. But others would argue this. So, I'd go with Moto, LG, Samsung as well. I'd stick with a bigger name because of service when needed easier than the odd brands.
