Is there an update firmware on SMT 5600 for Cingular?

1) Does anyone know if the SMT 5600 for Cingular has an updated firmware
vs the ATT Wireless version? I'm thinking about getting one, but not sure
if I should get an unlocked (ATT) or a Cingular version?

2) How is the screen on the SMT 5600. Can you still see the screen in the
sun? I know alot of phones do not show the screen well during daylight.

I have no idea about the firmware, but I can chime in on the screen. Yesterday was my first true test, and it passed very well (better than I thought, anyways). The sun was very bright, and I pulled out the phone and could see everything fine. Colors were distorted, but all text could be read. It was kind of like it turned to a negative of itself. Definitely visible...makes me wonder how I lived with the T616 in the sun.
