I tired putting these settings in on my SE in the WV client and it keeps telling me that my username and password is incorrect...is there a domain setting on there?

I had my S700 working with yamigo already, but aim online status doesn't work, that's why I was trying to get the t-mobile WV servers on my phone.

Your configuration only works on unbranded phones. My configuration works on carrier branded phones (ie. Cingular).

Maybe I should change the thread title.

Yamigo's online status doesn't work to my knowledge. As for tmobile's WV servers, I didn't know they offered them (no one still knows how to login to the servers they supposedly have)

Quick question so is it possible to use the IM thingie for both AIM and yahoo at the same time? or no?! This thread should be made sticky or in the FAQ too!!!

Yes, using yamigo, check out my post on the Definitive guide to setting up the 6230i which is also in my sig:

The AIM online status apparently works for some people. Yahoo and MSN status works fine on mine, but AIM and ICQ doesn't show.

I love you! AIM now works for my 6170b! PTT was replaced by IM on the US 6170.

Anybody Gotten These Settings to Work with a Series 60 Phone on T-mobile? I'm attempting to use the settings, but with No Luck. Any Feedback would be great. Settings work like butter on my 6230. I'm just kinda tired of Yamigo only working 1/2 the time...

if using yamigo, just suffix their msn id (email tagged to it) with @msn.net

so if user@hotmail.com is their msn id, it'd be user@hotmail.com@msn.net

When in doubt check the faq on yamigo's homepage.

does anyone know if you use the tmobile settings above in the original poster's thread if you will incur txt messaging charges (as they do for their AIM branded phones?), or does this get pegged to your 4.99 Tzones plan?

what do you login as and what do you set as password?

AIM works for me, too. It doesn't notify you when you get a message, though. You have to look at your "conversations."

Has anyone gotten email working both ways yet? I am trying to setup yahoo mail but it won't download. It will connect and start retrieving but when the status bar gets all the way to the right I get a "Retrieving Cancelled" error message. Any ideas?

Posted by: muevelonyc

one of the members posted that they guy email to work (gmail specifically) using the thread listed in my link. I've gotten to work wither other POP3, but still tinkering with Gmail. I can seem to send, but not receive... It's weird.

Do you actually pay for Yahoo? Otherwise it won't ever work because you have to pay for it to get pop3 access (as I do).

Glad to see that WV client works with Yamigo on the 6230b, as I might buy one, and IM over text would be nice.

It would be nice if Yahoo actually gave up pop access like gmail or any of the other competitors. I use yahoo as my main email - paying for it might not sound like a bad Idea I guess.

+1
For AIM, what is the username? username@aim.com, username@aim.net, or simply username doesn't seem to work with http://wirelessvillage.t-mobile.com. I wonder if it has to do with spelling?

Posted by: mch

These settings do use text messaging, so you'll incur text messaging charges.

At least I certainly do on my Nokia 6822. On the other hand, I have unlimited text messaging on the account.

Posted by: trublov

Has anyone tried an instant messenger for mobiles like this one http://www.gamemobile.co.uk/iminstantmessenger.htm as I'd like to know if it works before I spend my money!?

Posted by: ziddey

i have a 6230b flashed with 5.50 unbranded using tmobile. i tried following the directions here but i dont have a space for the sms 4670 to input. so it doesn't work. i followed the yamigo instructions and got that to work, but i'm not very fond of the way yamigo works. is there another way of doing this to go through tmo's wv to get aim working or something like that? i've always used my moto phones with tmo since i could easily get the aim client to work with that.

I found the sms setting for MSN.
just set the Text msg. number: 4705. I don't know about the GPRS address.
I am using a Tmobile to Go sim card in an unlocked nokia 3120 from cingular. I converted the prepaid plan to Sidekick plan which gives me free sms both to send and receive. So totally free IM. Nice.

Posted by: ziddey

hmm i have a 6230b and had it flashed to 5.50 unbranded. my im interface is totally different. i'd rather use this than yamigo. does anyone know the proper configuration? i dont seem to have a text msg number field. just the gprs doesnt seem to work

Posted by: ziddey

alright i just got a new 6230b refurb from cingular xbm. this one is v5.51 obviously cingular branding. i changed all the configuration for gprs for tmobile correctly (connectivity, etc) and can browse wap on the phone just fine. i did follow all these instructions here and still can't get it to work. it's gotten to the point where if i'm signed on on my computer as well, id get the aol system msg saying i signed on at another location. however, on the phone it would die out and say no go. then also, when i got buddy alerts for example, my phone would say new im client alert, but if i launched it, id be at the login screen. i wonder what's going on?

Posted by: muffd

I also have a unlocked Nokia 6230b (Cingular) but on T-Mobile service. This didn't come with the AIM software. Is there a way to put this in?

Posted by: ziddey

the nokia phones dont have "aim" software. they have the nokia im program. at least for sure the cingular brand does.

Posted by: The Mac Ace

i need the settings for an unbranded 8801 (flashed by evan with netmon fw) i need the client ID-what do i put in there??

Posted by: janeconsultants

would want to Buy a Nokia Phone of this Brand (8890)... how may I go about it?

Posted by: mat_1583

hi guys. im with tmobile and using these settings with a 3120 for yahoo messenger. i dont have tzones but i have the unlimited text, mms family addon. does changing the bearer to sms make the IM use up sms only? previously i had the bearer set to automatic but Gprs went on even if i dont have tzones. in bearer: sms no gprs symbol showed but it takes longer to login and stuff. but in bearer: automatic, it logs-on quick but with gprs "on" which i dont have in my account.
