Hey quick question. I'm new to cell phone modding, but I'm very experienced with computers. I got a 3300 that was locked to AT&T. I'm on Cingular, so I figured out how to unlock it. Now my problem is the phone is firmwre version 3.07 and doesn't have AIM installed on it. I really want to install AIM on it, but after reading a lot of posts about this phone on here, it seems the only way I'll get AIM on this 3300 is to get the firmware upgraded. Is this something only a Cingular store can do for me, or is there a way for me to do it myself? Also, will getting my phone's firmware upgraded erase everything in it?

Flashing the phone yourself is very hard to do since you would need access to flashing cables and a flash box such as a Griffin Box. These tend to be very expensive.

It is probably easier to have this done by Cingular or by Nokia. Normally Nokia will upgrade your firmware for free if the phone is still under the original warranty.
