Treo 650 locking up & rebooting

Piece of crap damm phone recently has been locking up and rebooting by itself. Phone has firmware V1.15 No 3rd party software on the phone either.

When the phone locks up you have to remove the battery to be able to turn it off. No buttons work not even the power.

Called Rogers tech support yesterday and they say that new software should be out by the end of the month ??

Like when they say the high speed internet is slow we will fix that in a few days sure they do.

Called Palmone the Canadian support number this morning and the Dumb Bimbo

is telling me no updates for our model, but we have software for the US phones.

She is telling me how to hard reset the phone if I have it there to do remove the battery press and hold the power button and then reinsert the battery and then up or down button to clear all memory when it prompts u.

I said and this will erase all my contacts and everything I have in the phone she said yes. I said and u dont even tell me to backup the phone before. What a stupid bimbo. :rolleyes2

Guess I will try that tonight after I back up but I don't think that is the problem.

I see they have firmware V1.23 but it looks like there are bugs reading it like memory problem and lock up still.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I was on an active call and then the display froze rock solid, I removed the battery and it then did a soft reset. I have a cingular branded Treo 650.

This su... if it continues, after all I paid $450 for the **** "not so smartphone."

I know and its very disappointing that Plam does not acknowledge there is a problem and working on a fix and when its going to be released.

Having Palm tech support telling me to do a hard reset without telling me to do a backup was not professional.

As far as I was concerned she is a stupid.

She really pissed me off.

My factory firmware is V1.15 not only locks up but it soft reboot itself at times. The damm phone locked up 3 times within 30min yesterday.

Well, it's our faults. Ever since the treo came out in December 04 (cdma, Srpint version) it had problems and then in early February (gsm, cingular/att) rolled out with an abundance of problems (ie: low volume, soft/resets, freezing screen etc etc...) yet "we" kept buying the product to the point that in it's first quarter of this year palmone's profits soared. With this much profit of course they will take their sweet time to fix these problems!
And "we the people" are sc.... big time!!

Ardy I never used a plam before and always used a mot cell phone.

A friend bought a Treo 650 as he read reviews and how they raved about this new product that is supossed to be a smart phone.

I got it as I like how you can send text messaging and retrieve email.

I guess its smart phone cause it can lock it self up and reboot by itself.

He bought his directly from Palm USA and they have exchanged 2 if these 650 units for him. He is on his third 650 unlock GSM and same problem and one of his major complaint low speaker volume on speaker phone mode.

At times I use a wire headset and can hear a loud hissing in the back ground no matter what headset I use. I dont hear it as much with a bluetooth.

Does the 650 not search for the bluetooth after you turn on the headset I have to go to setup and known device and then connect and enter in the pass code everytime.

There must be some watch dog that u can sick on Palm for releasing a product that is clearly defective. :rolleyes2

Want to hear something funny. the stupid screen protector had bubles in it after I installed it made the display look like crap.

Went back to the store and they gave me another one out of a box and that was even worse. I called Palm tech support and they tell me no parts number listed for it and I have to order it from the store and pay for it.

I said this crap it's no more than 1 day old if that is the case I will return it and get my money back and Palm will be stuck with the return.

Palm here sells them for 12 for $29.95 them crooks(Palm)My friend works at a plastic company the same screen protector sold in sheets of 48" by 60" $10.00cnd so mow I covers my sons PSP have tons left over.

Their (P1) screen protector is a generic for all their models, you have to cut it to seize for your Treo. The best is Boxware crystal for about less than $15 with shipping and it comes in 2-3 days. I have it and love it, it's clear and you won't even know it's there. If interested go to boxware.com and order it.
I just hope they come up with fixes/patches asap, if they do it really could be a great phone.
