That's a good question. I'm trying to figure that out myself.

You need to know about this because you planning to get a Data Cable, or you been trying it, but is not working?

Yes, you can back up games. Use Bitpm and go to the file system. Find the directory that holds your games and you can save them. I have done it several times.

Sounds cool,, now I know for sure that alllll of them games that I loaded on my wife's and my phone are transferable.. And also by doing this, we both can end up with each others games on our phones,, hehehe.

Now the kids wont be fighting for the phone that have the coolest games because both of them will have them..

I'm using the newest release of bitpim (0.7.32) on mac os x.3.6 with a Sanyo PM-8200 (Sprint).
I am able to see the directories/trees such as $SYS.FACTORY, VoiceDB, nvw, and so on... Where am my apps & games??

Help? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

My neighbor just bought a MM5600 and it came with a cable. We use it for his 5600 and my 7400. Got everything hooked up last night. Use BitPim for everything. You can manage everything Address book, ringtones, wallpapers, calandar, To Do, Memo, etc.

go to "filesystem" and hit the plus button. you will then hit "data" and then "brew" and then "downloads" (something like that) here u can save your games and apps to your pc. to find the name of the file since it is all numbers, double click the .jad file and it should show up.

To get the files back on your phone, I used an phone loader. There several different ones out there like:

http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/

There's one at PCSpix.com (it's free to sign up but the free account has a size limit), that allows you to upload both the .jar and .jad files. (Some Apps or Games need both files to work properly)

trunoob507; Sorry about the delay in responding to your PM. I hope this helps (it did for me.)

Thanks for replying, but I'm still lost. Maybe I'm missing something, or it's not available in the Mac version of Bitpim yet, but the "+" "button on the window is greyed-out. If I hit the "+" on the keyboard, it expands the entire directory tree, but still no "data," "brew" or "downloads"?!?! Thus, no ".jad" files.
I can get to the nvm files and seemingly everything else that opens under the root, "/".
Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
g

A few things:
Did you have any luck locating games, etc in the filesystem as that post suggested? I don't see the data, downloads or brew, etc....

You can do much better on data cables on ebay - using the Buy It Now option!
Go to ebay and search with the following words - no quotes needed - "data cable sanyo 8200". Don't fear the cheap (under $5!!) cables! Though, you may want to avoid the cables that also charge (via the same USB connection) the phone, as people have warned that they could damage phones.
- You may find that the same cable works on more than 1 phone. Which leads me to...
- have you attempted to or succeeded in accessing your Sanyo 200 via bitpim? My mother just got one and it uses the same data cable as the 8200. I tried briefly by telling bitpim that it was an 8200, but no dice. It was a brief attempt, but I will experiment more when I visit her again.

From what I have been reading there may be a driver problem with the VI2300, correct me if I'm wrong but isnt the 200 the same as the VI2300 just without the r-link and outer display? I will go out and get the data cable for the 8200 "radioshack" says that it will work (snap sync software) but the software only lets you transfer phone book only.

Bitpim is the application to manipulate the data on your phone. It's free, but a work in progress - updated frequently.
http://bitpim.sourceforge.net

You will also need to install USB drivers which allow your computer to recognize the phone. (This is not necessary on a Mac with OS X). Your cable may come with a CD that includes the drivers for multiple phones. If it does not, you can download the USB drivers at a number of places like: http://futuredial.com/support/download/USB_Drivers.htm

Yes, a Sanyo cable will work with the 2300 and bitpim. The only difficulty I've had is how to transfer ringtones with it. When I use bitpim to transfer the ringtone it seems as if bitpim has transfered it but it doesn't show up on the download folder on the phone or when I search for it from the bitpim file tree. Not sure how to do it, anyone know how to make this work? I ended up using a uploader (rumkin) to put them on the phone. Backing up the dial direcory, etc., works fine though.
