Samsung P207

PROS
-Quality build, no squeeking plastic. Good flip hinge.
-Bright well lit screen.
-Keypad spaced just enough to avoid errors when typing/center menu key also used as "ok" key.
-No menu lag.
-External caller id pic.
-Edge speed makes a noticeable difference when downloading/uploading.
-Speech to text works pretty well after some training and adding rare words to the t9 dictionary.
-Email client that supports attachments. I've sent 300kb in attachments so far to include .jpg and .mp3 files. Using edge a 200kb email sent in about 20 seconds. You can set up 10 seperate pop3/imap email accounts.
-You can select your default text input (t9 or alpha).
-SMS to email addresses.
-MP3 ringers sound pretty good. I encoded mine at 96kbps/joint stereo and am pleased with the quality of the sound.
-Built in IM client allows you to use Yahoo/AIM or ICQ. Works pretty well too.
-Decent vga camera with video. It's not the best i've seen but it's ok. Has many different setting options i.e. BandW, Mosaic, Sepia, Sketch, Multi-Shot, Night Mode, Timer and many more.(photos below)
-Organization programs include Calendar, Alarm, Calculator, Currency Exchange and To Do list.
-Clear call quality to my experience.
-Decent battery life, will probably need an every other day charge for me.
-Customizeable navigation keys.

CONS
-Cannot customize external display.
-Personal wallpapers don't fit exactly on screen, no matter what size you use there are two thin white bars one above and one below the picture.
-Propriotory headphone jack/Samsung headsets only.
-Ringer volume needs to be louder.
-No standard professional sounding ringers.
-Earpiece volume is a little low but not bad for me.
-No camera flash as advertised on Cingular website.
-Don't leave it at a crime scene as it preserves your fingerprints perfectly It still looks good though, even all smudged up.
-Reception is a little weaker than my Motorola V635. It's usually full but fluctuates more frequently than my moto.
-And for you pervs you CANNOT disable the shutter sounds and they are quite loud.
-Samsungs wap browser still needs a bit of help but has gotten much better as you can select bookmarks before actually connecting.

Overall it's the best non-bluetooth phone i have had in a long time! It's my first branded phone with cingular and it's nice to see they didn't cripple the email client at all. Yes, it's got the cingular jack all over it but against the glossy black it looks good. I only spent 79.99 and i feel it's comparable to some 200.00 phones out there so it's quite a deal.

The pictures taken with the phone below were resized to 800x600(I'm sure they could be better, i just took these really quick).

Hey, nice review, but I have a few questions.

Is it really that shiny in real life? It looks blinding.

Aslo, Is that a Multi-colored LED on the front? I know samsung is putting them on alot of phones lately, I think its a nice little feature.

Yes it is that shiny and yes it has the led which flashes different color patterns depending on what is incoming i.e. text or a call. You can turn it off as a service flasher though.
