Hi Palm users,

I normally use a pocket pc but my friend has a treo 650 from Sprint and is having problems that i'd like to help out with. He says he can't seem to sync with his computer and is experiencing other "bugs". The rep from Sprint said that the firmware needs to be upgraded with a "special cable" other than the one it comes with(is that true?). Anyhow, can anyone explain what firmware must he upgrade(stable) to with what cable must he use and how might i do this for him if he can't even sync to his computer? I understand flashing roms and firmware upgrades so pls feel free to use the jargon with me. thank you in advance

Yes and no. He does need to upgrade the firmware, but he won't need a special cable, just his hotsync cable. The rep didn't know what he/she was talkign about there.

He needs to upgrade to version 1.8, and he can get the firmware at Palmone.com, or mytreo.net. If he can't even sync to begin with, there's a special way to install the upgrade. What he should do is run a full backup on his Treo, hard reset it, and it WILL sync then. Then just run the firmware upgrade, sync it onto the phone, and then have him restore all his data. It's REALLY easy to do & it really improves the phone(I got about 5 extra megs of memory after the update).
