Uhh, Dermatology Advice?

Well, I figured out I have lots of open pores on my nose! What stuff gets rid of them or closes them or whatever?

Posted by: Koofteh

How bad are they? I suggest asking your family doctor, cuz non of this over-the-counter crap works. If you have serious acne, then Accutane will fix it up in five-six months. It dries the hell outta your skin, but it works.

I suggest not just trying anything, most of the crap you can get at the store make it worse. Ask your doctor.

Try using an astringent after cleansing if your skin is oily.

theres nothing much you can do with your pore size (blame genetics)

the important thing to do is keep the pores clean and astringent/toner will only temporarily shrink your pores.

I have wondered this too, although its not a big problem for me. Could it be possible to use hot wax (like a woman does on legs) to pull the crap out? Or would that just hurt and burn the nose?

lol don't they have those blackhead strips now??? haha

Posted by: joestedman

I would go to a doctor. They gave my kids acouple different things but they needed a doctor to write a prescriptions.

They don't work at all, the strip doesent stick as it dries.

Are you sure you were doing it right? I've tried them before and they stuck so much it hurt to pull it off.

GO see a Dermatologist...and stick to his/her advice, wash your face regularly, avoid coffee...any caffeine, get good sleep and drink lot of water...good for your skin.

or like joe also said "astringent"

Both my kids use the meds the doc gave them and it works if they wash regularly and use the cream..

They're not major bad, they're just noticable by me if I go up to a mirror really close. I dont have an acne anywhere else ethier. This Clearasil stuff seems to work.

Yeah I was using them right, the instructions are pretty easy to follow. What happens with me is when I apply it is the part where the nose bridge is wont stay on as it dries. Even the part that does (on the sides), nothing gets pulled out (despite being stuck on pretty good). This is the only thing on my face that I want to remidy, I have never had a pimple problem, except for the occasional few (maybe 1 every 2 months).

Good advice.
Failing that you could try a paper bag? Worked wonders for me!

Whatever you do, don't experience with toomany different things. And definately don't try MURAD. I used to have blemishes that showed up on my cheekbone area (where my skin is actually drier) and it broke out even more!!! Someproducts will do that before it actually starts to work correctly. Also, make sure you know your skin type. People with oily skin should NOT use an alcohol toner because it dries out the skin severely!! Youdon't necessarily have to use a toner twice a day every day. Just maybe 3x's a weeks. There is really nothing you can do to change the size of your pores. I have larger pores on my nose and I notice them too when I look in the mirror. What I recommend is, boil a pot of water and hold your face over the steam for about 5 minutes. That opens your pores and loosens the dirt. Then use your toner. After that, rinse your face with cold water or rub and ice cube on your face to close the pores and then moisturize. Hey take it from a make-up artist!!!

ok...yo'ure not using them right.

wet your nose and make sure it's wet! put the strip on. then dab your finger under the faucet and run your finger over the strip so that the top of the strip feels moist. then stick it to your noise and it'll stick.

these things aren't perfect so it won't always pull out stuff for EVERY part of your nose.

i used acutane
tried the hell out my lips
but it worked after the 2nd week

expensive, if you dont have a health plan

That is basically what I did, they just dont work very well. Even the parts that do stick (which is really sticky), very little gets pulled out.

you've obviously got to wash your face and drink lotsa water and stuff, but something as simple changing the pillow case once a week or so did it for me

I used Spectro Gel 609 to wash and leave Clindoxyl Gel on overnight.

Posted by: AlleyCat

Back to the pore strips again...I've heard things about how they may actually make your pores worse because some of the adhesive may be left behind on your nose, clogging the pores that it's supposed to clean.
