Stereo Headphones for SMT5600?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am looking at buying the SMT5600 b/c it seems like a great phone and b/c it also is compatible with the Napster to Go program.

However, are you able to listen to MP3's in stereo with stereo headphones (meaning two ear buds) or is it just via 1 ear bud only?

Thanks!

Brett.

The phone comes bundled with a stereo headset/mic; you can also use an adapter to use standard headphones. The Motorola stereo headset for the MPx220 will NOT work properly with the 5600.

The headphones are actually good sound quality, too. I was quite pleased, athough I am not a big fan of the earbud style. I will be getting an adaptor for a more traditional pair of 'phones.

Thank you for the information.

As a follow up question can the phone be plugged into a stereo system as you would do with a "traditional" MP3 player.

Thanks again.

Brett.

Yea it can, I do it all the time. Just make sure you have the right cords, and most likely an adaptor.

Where do you guys get this magical adaptor. I've been to RadioShack, but all they have is a 2-connector 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adaptor which results in mono sound to my stereo. What I need is the 3-connector plug (like what comes with the phone). Know what I mean?

If you do a search on Ebay for SMT5600 you will see many stereo adapters.

Thanks for the help! I bought my adapter from esotechtrix for 9.99. (plus 5.00 shipping)

you need a male 3/32" to female 1/8" (or 1/4" if you are using good headphones or gear) adapter. Radioshack carries them for a couple bucks, picked one up this morning.

Temporarily using one of those cassette to 1/8" adapters for mp3 playing in my truck. Works pretty well for $20, but the quality isn't as good as it should be with a hardwired-to-deck setup.
