How do I delete a locked file on my vx3200?

I recently got the LG vx3200, a data cable and bitpim. Then I tried transferring some ringtones but ended up with a locked file. This file shows up in Bitpim (as mediamel004.dat in my sms folder) but does not appear on my phone anywhere. I can't delete or overwrite the file in Bitpim as an error message pops up everytime. I had downloaded some ringtones from the vzw site and had also purchased 1 ringtone and saved the object (a few times for multiple entries of the same ringtone) so it showed up in my sms folder in bitpim and in My Melodies on my 3200. I was following some instructions to overwrite a ringtone in the sms folder by renaming one of the downloaded vxw ringtones the same as one of the copies in my sms folder (mediamelxxx.dat) The file ended up too big somehow and not sure if that is cause of all the problem, but it is definitely bigger than any other ringtone in the sms folder. If there is no way to delete this file, is there a way to reset the phone to factory settings to get rid of it? Menu, 6-4-6 doesn't do the trick, nor does an erase all at My Melodies. Am thinking that if I could reset the phone, could use bitpim to restore my contact list at least. Anyway, anyone out there have any ideas or experience with this? Have searched the forums but haven't found any answers.
