Analog to digital problem!!!

OK, here's the problem...I have a slider that continously goes into analog mode. It is in 1x until you try to make a call or are calling the phone, then it goes to searching and then analog. Is there something in the programming I can change to correct this problem? It's not the area I'm in, because none of my other phones do it.

Ok, think about this and tell me what you think. Am I on the right track? I finally got the phone to send and receive calls! BUT, it keeps dropping into analog and of course the battery lasts about 30 minutes. USCC said they couldn't make it work on their service and I did it! It was a uscc phone and the person switched to at&t. Now, my theory is...she lives in Roxboro, nc and I live in Swansboro, nc. It sounds like the phone is searching for the towers in her area, not mine. Am I right so far, you think? Now, if uscc could just program phone to hit the towers here, shouldn't I be ok? Can I do it myself, because I've been told by the store in town and calling 611 that I wouldn't be able to use it because it sounds like an internal problem with the phone. I think they just don't want to bother checking to see what the problem is. If I take the phone in and tell them it needs to be programmed for our towers, would they look at me like I have three heads or would they understand what I'm talking about?? Thanks, April
