Well i know OTA means Over The Air Update. Did it ask you to update now or later or did it do everything by it self( Update install, shut down, and boot back up) ?

It is a message from T-Mobile. I think it is just an OTA (Over the air) update.

when you first start sevice they send you that. some over the air activation thing.

The problem is that OTA (meaning "Over The Air") is an acronym used in a whole bunch of places.

When you get a SMS message that says "OTA OK" these come from T-Mobile and are updates to your SIM card - usually updates to the SIMcard's preferred roaming partner list. You also will get them when you activate a new SIMcard and sometimes when you change some stuff on your account.

This is not related to the sidekick's OTA software updates that come out from time to time, where it will prompt you to install the update and then take about 5-6 minutes to update the software on your phone. Totally different animal.
