Problem with BitPim automatically converting mp3 and mid files

I'm using the latest version of Bitpim (0.7.32). It has an option to choose the 8000 from the drop-down list when you’re using the program for the first time, and with this version it looks like that you don't have to go into the "View filesystem" mode to add & delete files.

I decided to create my own ringtone. I ripped a song to a wav file, edited it down to about 10 seconds long, converted it to an mp3, then renamed the file from ringtone.mp3 to ringtone.mid. Now the problem I'm having is that whenever I try to add this .mid file to the existing ones that came with the phone (again, I’m doing this through the normal interface – not through the “View Filesystem” mode), BitPim’s format conversion program automatically opens up, and doesn't allow me an option to bypass the conversion. Not only that, it gives me only the option to convert it to an mp3 file! Even when I try to transfer the mp3 version of the file from the hard drive to Bitpim, it tries to convert it to mp3…It’s already an mp3, why is it trying to convert it to the same format?

BitPim will however accept true mid files without any problems, as it doesn’t try to covert those. So is there a way to bypass this automatic conversion whenever I try to add an mp3 or an mp3 file renamed with a .mid extension?

Everything else has gone smoothly otherwise. I’m able to add pictures without problems. I got my data cable from amazon.com and installed the 8000 drivers from from LG’s site. No connectivity problems at all.

Thanks!

Use this version of bitpim 0.7.27 It doesnt have the audio converter.

OK, I'll try that when I get back home this weekend. Thanks. The only concern I have with that is that with version 7.27 I believe you have to use the View Filesystem mode to make changes with the vx8000, and the BitPim program suggests that you only use that mode only if you really know what you are doing. I don't want to mess up my phone.
