C56 Replacement

It won't power up anymore and doesn't support 850.

This is the best phone I've ever owned. I thought the S56 would be nice, but it just isn't.

Phonescoop still has incredibly high reviews for this phone.

1) No Frills. No Camera. No IR. Just an awesome phone.
2) The keys are separate. i.e. visible space between keys.
3) The keys have a great tactile response. iirc, each of the keys is an actual button, rather than just an open contact that is pressed together.
4) The thing is the width of my hand. 3 years after I got it people still comment on how small it is.

I guess I'm partial to Siemens because it's been indestructable (other than now powering up now). My LG feels like the cheapest plastic on the market.

I love the C56 too! I still think it's the best phone for functionality - ie. the good stuff like voice dialing and speakerphone are there, and the eye candy type stuff is at a bare minimum.

So, why don't you just buy a used C56 from HoFo buy/sell/trade or eBay so that you can keep whatever accessories are on your current phone? It's a very cost-effective option. Otherwise look for an A56 (not A56i) and get it unlocked and converted into a C56. IMO the A56 keyboard is even better than the C56's!

Most people will say I'm old-school but I still prefer a phone that's high in functionality rather than bells and whistles.

For some reason (age?) I didn't think that the C56 had 850. I just looked it up on PhoneScoop and I guess I was wrong.

What's the main difference between the C and the A models?

The C56 has 850... I think the manual says so?

The main differences between C and A models are:
polyphonic ringtones, GPRS/Internet, 7 caller groups instead of 4, voice dialing, voice memo, voice activated functions (very very handy!), organiser (appointments, special events, notes), Java games and applications. The A model has better keys because they're pretty much all separate (except the up/down button) and they are more equal in size than the C, so you don't get the itty bitty buttons at the bottom of the keyboard. Also, at least in Calgary, the aftermarket faceplates favour the A model instead of the C for some odd reason, so there's more choice for dressing up the phone.
