Siemens S40 problems - PLEASE LOOK!

i have 2 Siemens S40s that my brother gave to me that he said are "dead." he said they're mine if i can fix them. they won't start up. so i checked the batteries with a voltmeter and there's no voltage, but the charger won't charge them up. i opened up the phone and took a ohmmeter to test the capacitors, but don't really know what i'm doing in there. has anybody heard of these S40s as a bad batch?![B]

Did you put a voltmeter on the charger? It may be dead which is why the batteries don't charge.

If the charger works, will the phone power on with the charger attached? Many phones will work when the charger is attached, even if the battery is hosed.

Also, and if the charger works, drop a little money on a replacement battery. It won't cost you much so you're not out a lot of dough if putting in a new battery doesn't fix it. I think you can get replacement batteries on eBay for less than US$10; they may be cheap Chinese battery packs, but for testing purposes should be OK.
