well im tryin to decide between these 2 phones.... i been with the sidekick since black and white sidekick days.. and now that im with the sidekick II im just not impressed anymore.. im just wanting some reasons why i should stay with the sidekick and why i should switch over to the black berry.. NEXTEL is offering a trade in value of 100.00 (per their website) if people trade in their sidekick II for the new Blackberry 7520... from what i have read about this phone is that its awesome.... in comparison with the sidekick it doesnt have a camera (but i dont use that camera very much) but what it does have is the Bluetooth... (something that a lot of sidekick users would die to have) and then also it does support third party apps. it has GPS so that you can use a software program called TeleNav and get step by step directions... also it does have Push mail... through Verichat it has all the Messaging progams and it also now has a web brower that supports java script... it a tap bit smaller than the sidekick.. thats all i can come up with... someone please tell me some pros and cons about why i should or shouldnt switch from the sidekick to the blackberry.... thanks for everyone's help.

Wirelessly posted (:laughs:: BlackBerry7100/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I defintely recommend a bb. If you are a serious business user. The sk2 is fun, but that's all it is. It cannot keep up with todays business users.

I have been trying to decide the same thing. I do not currently have either currently, but the thing that sucks about Nextel is that there is not any flat data rate available, you have to pay extra for the GPS functions, and try as I might it is **** near impossible find out their download speed. I am considering cingular or verizon for these reasons. The latter data prices are quite high however and the former does not have as good coverage.

The problem with T Mobile data is in the world of "you get what you pay for," T Mobiles data is second rate (sorry guys). if you want fast data you could cingular a shot, I haer at some point they will be releasing an "EDGEberry" which will be something to look forward to.

Nextels speeds are pretty good, if you want some speeds you can go to www.blackberryforums.com, there they have a speed tester with some people who have shared their results.

as for me posting from the 7100 above, I actually posted that from dealer training (the instructor had one lol.), it is an alright device but I had a hard time enjoying the sure type feature.

Mr Pink -

I looked at the forum you refer to and was unable to understand the speed units that the numbers were in. Further, I think the benchmark you are referring to is the blackberry speed, not the data link speed.

I will do some searching around tomorrow for ya on that. just give me a little time.

sk2 is good for email web and phoning people its a little thick but you get used to it. camera is weak, no bluetooth which kinda sucks but at least on fido with sk2 unlimited data is only 20 per month add that to my city fido and its a phone u can't beat.....
