Ok i got a cable form radio shack cable # is 42 it says it fits the kyocera se47 slider, it fits my phone and when i went on the futuredial web sight it says the cable that fits the slider is the #19 cable, which after reading i found out that is the cable that people use for the vx4700 , so is the #42 cable the same as the #19?

Also i got it home (i bought just the cable) pluged it to the computer, says the new software thing
What software do i need i have the QPST downloaded?
Also when i start QPST i am asked for a phone selection, mine is not listed, what do i do?
Do i need a USB Driver if so which one do i need where can i get it for free?

Please help
thanks
Kevin

There might be a misprint on your package since FutureDial's site there is no #42 cable. Cable #19 is used for se47 and can be used by the vx4700, but you have to be careful because accroding to other users it is not the correct cable for it. Cable #49 is the correct one.

By software it means the drivers that can be downloaded from FutureDial's site.

Check here for instructions.

If you go to the Device Manager for Windows, scroll down until you reach "Ports(COM & LPT)" then click on the plus sign, and you will see the phone cable and the Port it is assigned too. That is the port that you need to add to the QPST Config.

Did you already download and install the drivers for the cable? This usually means 1 thing, and it is your resources tab. You have to manually change the I/O RANGE and IRQ. Double-click on "USB Device", and then go to "Resources".

Yes. Click on "USB Device" under "Other Device" to get to the "Resources" tab to make the changes.

ok i still can't get this to work so i am going to start from step one

-So i reinstalled QPST
-Which driver should i use (http://www.futuredial.com/support/d...USB_Drivers.htm)
- can i just save it to any place
- or maybe i am missing a step
- I don't need any of this software right http://www.futuredial.com/FDCart/Pr...ist.aspx?cid=30

if this does not work i think i'll try the other cable (#49)

Use the "ProfilicDrivers", and QPST will work fine for images and ringtones. I would suggest obtaining the correct cable. Get either Cable #49 from FutureDial or the cable from Susteen which is the one that I use.

If you buy the Susteen cable, then download the drivers from their site. Most likely though the drivers will come with the cable.

I'm looking for someone that has this working to test a cable and drivers for me on the VX4700. Any takers? You keep the cable. Only people that currently have this working respond please.

susafuss... I'm not familiar with the Radio Shack number cables but I do know prolific cables. The Kyocera SE-47 Slider cable that has the prolific chip is the same physical cable as the LG VX6000 cable with chip. You can get the VX6000 cable with or without but I'm speaking of the cable with the chip.

The VX4700 requires a cable with a 2-notch plug. The Kyocera and the VX6000 use a 3-notch plug cable. This will not fit your phone correctly and you could damage it if you force it. This is common for other LG models as well.

The cable connector you need is from the VX7000/VX8000 models. The wiring in the cable is exactly the same as the Kyoc and VX6000 but the physicl connector has 2-notches instead of 3. So look for that model.

Also, if you have the prolific cable already, don't go out and replace it just yet. Try both of these drivers. Try the first one and see how you make out. If that doesn't work, uninstall and install the next one.

QPST is also funky about the com port on different computers. You may get the same exact cable to work on Com 4 on one computer and not on another. I believe it has something to do with the IRQ sharing. That will be different from one pc to the next. Oh well.. here are the drivers I find are best for prolific cables. Let me know how you make out with them.

If you've got XP, try the first one first.
