Bad news guys.. my V3 came to me brand new, and its only a few months old. I upgraded to the .9AR Monster Pack a few weeks ago and did all my settings changes, etc etc.. 2 nights ago I plugged it in to charge, and nothing happened. Plugged it into the PC, nothing happened. So then i turned it off, turned it on, and it worked. Great. Last night I tried it again... didnt work. Even did a hard shock (or hard reset, whatever you wanna call it.. took the battery out for a min or two) and it still wouldnt work. Usually when you remove the battery and plug it in it will say "Unable To Charge". Well, last night I tried this, and the phone's keypad would light up, turn off right as the screen went white, light up again and the screen would go black, off and on between these two every 3 seconds. Im really stumped guys, any help? I hope its only a software problem Any help GREATLY appreciated. And no I don't have the warranty (i dont think) cuz i dont have any card or anything that says Warranty.

try to wiggle the charging connector when in the razr receptacle. This usuallly happens with every motorola i have purchased including the v80....but i still keep on buying them...

try that and see what happens. It usually works

Hmm... tried that for about 10 minutes.. no luck Dont think it's the cable, tried a charger and the USB cable.. cant be the battery because when I take it out and just plug the phone in, itll temporarily light up and then go off and not give me the "unable to Charge" message.. crap.. what am i going to do? I didnt drop it or spill anything on it at all.. how do you know if you still have the warranty? I have the Cingular box it came in and all the original packing. Is there supposed to be a 'warranty' card?

you could TRY to call cingular xbm and see if they will replace it, but i'm not sure of their policy on this type of problem

could also be a bad charger

As I already said.. I also tried connecting it to the PC and nothing happened.. so it's not the charger. Called Cingular and they're going to do an exhange by mail. They said it wouldn't cost me anything. Will I get a refurb. or a new one? And will it be locked? (I ask those Q's to those who have gotten an exchange by mail through Cingular already) Hope it's not locked, my current one isnt.. sad thing is, i cant back up any of my stuff...

I would still try a different AC charger, cuz the PC won't charge your phone if the battery is totally out. I had that happen to me, and almost returned the phone. Using the USB charger, the keypad would light up, and then power off, light up again, power off again. Then I took it to a cingular store, charged with their AC charger and it worked fine!

Heh, now I feel stupid.. a friend said "blow the charger port, there may be dust in there" and i did it just for the heck of it, and it works now Sorry to make a dumb-dumb of myself!

paine,

are you still having any of these problems? I just bought my V3 and I can't get it to charge at all. I plug it into the computer, and the key pad lights up for a second but then turns back off. the wall charger can't get it to do anything.

anyone else having problems like these? Mine is a world phone, and came with the european charger. it says 5.1v at 550 mA. And the american, cingular, phone charger is only rated at 450 mA. I want to charge the phone here in the states. Could this be a/the factor? any suggestions?

Well it worked for a day or two.. then wouldn't charge anymore. Tried the comp, wall charger, wall charger w/ phone turned off, blew out the connector port and connector, even swabbed it with a Q-Tip and a LITTLE rubbing alcohol.. dirt came off, and nothing else. Got it exhanged, great, new one and everything. Put in my Cingular SIM card (the replacement phone arrived yesterday), turned it on.. "Contact Service Provider". Then after a while it went to screensaver mode, it said "Enter Subsidy Password" I called Cingular, got to tech support.. nice lady, but flat out refused to help me. Phone only since November old, had a contract with Cingular for almost 2 years, no missed payments, NOTHING. Her excuse? "I can't". So they're sending me ANOTHER replacement. Argh.. the phone is locked to someone else.. not T-Mobile cuz I tried a T-Mo SIM as well.. Those are the only 2 I have and the replacement has been ordered, so.. if the 3rd one doesnt work, im going to call and call and call til I get the darned code.

I have the same problem, my v3 wont charge. I tried a replacment battery and charger and get no response when I plug the charger in the phone with it on. When powered off, the phone says it charging for a brief second, but then powers completly off. I assume this is some flaw internally with the system board. I tried doing a master reset and still no luck. If anyone finds a solution to this please let us know.

Wow, I forgot I even started this thread, it's almost been a year. dss2: the only way to fix it is to exchange the phone. Sorry but that's the only way my problem got fixed. I wish there was another answer but that's the only one.

I went to plug in my Razr V3c tonight and got a message saying "unauthorized charger". I'm trying to charge it with the actual charger. Not from my computer or a car charger. Anybody know why this would be? I've tried taking the battery out, turning off the phone, everything and I get the same message.

Hold on guys.....

I had the same problem with my RAZR after a friend did some SEEM editing. My phone refused to charge & would only blink one bar when charging. I have a feeling that it was due to an edit that was not done properly. Take the phone back to a Cingular store & have them exchange it if it's been less than 30 days. If it's been more than that, you'll have to XBM it. DO NOT TELL THEM ABOUT ANY EDITING. Simply tell them that your phone won't charge even when you put other RAZR batteries in it.
