Is it possible to switch network frequencies?

I have found out that I need a US phone that supports GSM850/1900. So I am considering to buy a 6230b. What I am wondering if it is possible to buy a normal 6230 and mod it to support 850 instead of 900.

(I would search, but the search is disabled)

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Nope. Well..... in *theory* it might be *possible* but save yourself the grief and just buy the right phone for your needs.

Just go right ahead and buy a 6230b, it makes a lot more sense since you have the needed frequencies from the start. Phones can rarely be modified for other bands since this would involve a complete hardware revamp.
