HELP! S56 suddenly putting people on hold

Three weeks ago my S56 started to spontaneously put people on hold. I'll be chatting, and there will suddenly be a beep and the screen will indicate that the caller is on hold. Then if I try to resume the call, nothing will happen, and after a few moments the call is terminated. Sometimes it doesn't even end up going on hold and it just terminates. It usually only happens on longer calls, but still, it's **** annoying.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'd like to try some new firmware, but the Siemens site doesn't say anything about the S56 at all. Just the S55.

You can get S56 firmware updates from this page:

...although it's not very new. AT&T "Update 7" is from Dec. 2003 and Cingular "Update 18" is from Oct. 2003.
Note that the updater will only update a phone with the same flavor of firmware in it already.

You will need a data cable. While any generic serial cable will work, my understanding is that for USB cables, the Siemens genuine cable is your best bet.
