No Service After Firmware Update!!!!!

I just updated my firmware. Seemed to have gone through fine since I didn't get any errors. I did a restore after that. Now when I turn on my phone it's " Searching " for network but never finds any.

Anyone else having this problem.

PS. I tried my sim in my T637 and it works fine. I did the format disk and it still won't work...


HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm having the exact same problem. It keeps searching forever. I can't even use the "Select Network" option. This is frustrating.

just realized that the sony ericsson website says that the newest organizer ver. is R5A02 but after my update my version is now R5B01. i'm beginning to think that they realeased the wron firmware.

Called Sony Ericsson and it seems I have to send the phone out for repairs.
I wish I never went ahead with this upgrade!!!

Words can't express how disappointed I am in sony right now. i depend on my phone alot and i just sold my backup phone a couple of weeks ago. I'm going to keep this is mind in case i ever consider buying a sonyericsson product again. First time i switch from nokia and this is what happens.

Same problem here... flashed my P910a last night and it just stays on Searching. Then if you go into the control panel for GSM Networks and tap on select networks, it just beeps. They have sure screwed something up here...

I'm on the phone with sony ericsson right now and i was told to tell other I know not to flash their phones. This really sucks. The worst part is that if your phone is no more under warranty you have to pay for the service. My phone is under warranty but I feel robbed having to pay for shipping no matter how small. This is a big strike against for me.

i haven't recieved the email yet from sony ericsson reguarding hwo to send my phone back for RMA. The rep said on there there should be a link on how to check for status of your rma. Anyone got the link? I have my rma number and address of where to send the fone to in N.C for RMA solectron.

the website says the latest organiser version is R5A02, but my, now non-working, P910a is saying it's R5B01. This is starting to just sound like a major screwup. I'd like a word with whoever's responsible. I live in NC so customer service told me to send it in for "repair." They need to just release a WORKING firmware in the first place. This is so rediculous!

yup these ****ers at sony ericsson i talked to on the phone keeps trying to put the blame on me. I tried to explain to hem that the phone wa working before update adn after update it no longer can find a carrier. and he goes the carrier issue isn't the phones problem. I then had ot explain to him my sim works fine in my razr v3. Finally he authorizes me an RMA. I believe if they would reelase a updated firmware or even the older firmware it'll be so easy to fix than to send to them monkies

I asked the sony rep if i could just wait a day or two for them to release new firmware and she told me she had no idea how long it would take to release and she didn't want to make an effort to contact tech to find out. right now I'd gladly revert to my old version. Sony is not handling this well at all. I'm very frustrated right now. I'm thinking about holding off on sending my phone to sony. I already have my rma# but i'm hoping they fix the problem on the update website by tomorrow. I depend on my phone alot so this is a serious blow to me. Little things about the phone like it not having a "copy all contacts to sim" function is really pissing me off now. I've always known that sony customer service is terrible but this takes the cake. I'm going to think long and hard before buying from them again. by the way does someone have a mailing address for sony cos I'm planning to write a formal complaint.

Well thankfully the guy I talked to didn't give me any such problems. He understood but pointed out that there was nothing HE could do other than ask me to send the phone in.

I'm going to look for an email address or something to file a complaint.

I don't see why they can't make it so if you do a hard reset it returns the phone to it's original firmware.

I was gonna try updating my phone again to see if I can fix it, and now the site says my phone is not supported, which is what it always says right before they release a new update. Maybe SE is actually gonna take care of this quickly.

I sent my phone to sonyericsson last friday but I spoke to them yesterday to see if they had received the phone and I found out that they now offer to send you a fedex mail slip since putting the firmware with bug online was their fault. The rep also said that they are working on the new but it could take a couple of days to as long as two weeks before it gets online. If you've sent yours already, you can track the status here.

I have 162005/3 and everything went great,no problems whatsoever. even the restore went good. the only noticeable bug I found is with my hbh-200 if I don't answer a call it hangs and disconnects from the phone and I have to restart the phone and headset but if I answer and make calls normally there is no problem at all. what is going on??? before that didn't happen. but all other headsets work ok. (hbh-35,660,600,662)

most of the people that lost conenct are with p910a and not a p910i. So i really don't know. My cda was 162005/8 and i know my fone died. I barely had it for 2 weeks. I sent it in so waiting for the fone to come back.

Have anyone tried to do a "restored"? If you update firmware you can always restored back. Just trying to see if that would help.

Well when you update your firmware and do a restore it restores your settings, data etc but NOT the previous firmware version.

So no the restore doesn't fit the problem.

This is true, RESTORE does NOT fix the firmware problem that SE caused with it's latest upgrade. My phone is DEAD TOO thanks to this upgrade.

I made a mistake, not restore but recovery mode.
From SE website
"Recovery mode - should only be used if your phone is non-operational and if you have used Sony Ericsson Update Service before."

Recovery mode put your phone back to original firmware before update process.

Yep tried the recovery mode as well. Recovery mode works if your installation crashes or something goes wrong. It just reinstalls the latest firmware. So the recovery mode doesn't work in this case because the install completes fine. There's a bug with the firmware update.

I tried that too but it didn't work. On the website my RMA status shows "WIP", so hopefull I'll get my phone back by thursday or friday. It'll be nice if they could finish today and send it overnight cos that would make my day tomorrow. Thinking about reinstalling my apps, redoing my setting instead of doing a restore.

I was hoping that being close by in florida would help but I see that was the case for you. I'm going to bug them everyday by phone and email. They have to work fast cos this was totally their fault. I depend om my phone alot so this has been a very big inconvenience.

same here. says it's a 2day shipment but expected delivery date is wednesday. utter crap!

I just got off the phone with SE checking the status of my phone, asking why its taking so long just to reload the firmware. I asked for contact information to file a complaint since this was caused by SE and is really impacting me .... the guy was very helpful and gave me the following email address that is used to esculate issues to the executive level.

Lets all file our complaints and get something out of this!

The rep refused to give me any email or phone number. I hope this works cos i'm going to fire off an email to them.

It's official. I'm NEVER EVER buying a sony ericsson phone again....the p910 was my first sony phone and it will be the last and I mean it. They accept the fact that the firmware problem was all their fault, yet they can not do something as simple as sending the phone next day to aleviate problems that they might have caused for their customers.
