(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

looks like we're going to carry it sometime this summer.

Posted by: riptorn

Was in a store yesterday and that's what I was told

Not the black v3 but 1150 - with active internet screen thingy. (how techy)

So are they goning to sell both the silver one and the bllack one, or stop selling the silver one and just sell the black one?

Posted by: Rcadden

with an exclusive contract on it, just the like the silver one had. Good job Cingular.

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

only black. exclusive to us

Not that i doubt you or anything, you have provided accurate info in the past. But i have a couple of friends that work for TMO and they have both told me that Tmobile will be carrying the black one mid to late summer as well. So i find this a little interesting, and they get their info from the "higher-ups"..... hm.....

Jeff

Posted by: Rcadden

initially. Look at the silver one. It's down to less than a 6230 in some places. It'll drop quickly.

Posted by: bobolito

It better be the same price. Why would I pay more for the same phone painted in black?

Posted by: HeyJude03

Will the black model be able to capture video?

Posted by: jyalexop2003

Will the Black version have EDGE, video capture, MP3 player,
expansion card. If not then the upcoming 6230 will be much better,
feature and price-wise.

Posted by: Linkman

Not to throw a wet blanket on the Black V3 beach party, but I think this is just a rumor run wild that Cingular and/or T-Mobile will carry it. It seems really odd that both sides keep saying they will have it and it may or may not be exclusive to them. To that end T-mobile carries it in Europe so if anyone is going to have an exclusive on it here I would think it would be T-Mobile. The ONLY fact I have heard on the V3 is that T-Mobile will be carrying it -- the silver V3 that is, NOT the Black version.

It sounds like one of these typical "sales guy" rumors to keep customers from buying something elsewhere. I have heard T-mobile guys say since January that they will have the V3 "soon". A Cingular guy said somewhere on this board that the Black version failed the network testing and was pushed back??? It's the exact same guts as the Silver V3!! If it failed testing we're all in trouble.

Posted by: Rcadden

T-mobile won't have the SIlver till Cingular's 100 day exclousive runs up, whcih is somewhere near the end of June.

Posted by: mashi

100 days ? V3 been out over 4 months with cingular already

Posted by: just_shut_up

V3 been out with Cingular for almost 8 months now.

Why pay more (if that's the case) for a black V3 when a can of (black) spray paint is just as good?

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

i got it confirmed today..cingular WIL BE carrying the black v3 to counter attack t-mobiles silver v3 for" exclusive".

word on the street is they "might" upgrade the camera to a megapixel one before launching it with cingular. price is probably going to stay at 199.99 with 2 year. still unknown att

Posted by: vandan

Any more news on this? I would like to switch from ATT to Cingular, but I want to wait for a black V3.

Also, only tangentially related: Do you guys get a commission if I go into a store and change from AT&T to Cingular? The last two times I've asked for info about switching (at different Cingular stores) they were less than interested in helping me. In fact, at the first store, when I was asked at the door and then that guy told another guy , the 2nd guy's response was "the door is over there", like why would he waste his time. Now, to be fair, he was joking, but it seemed after speaking with him for 30 seconds that there was a good deal of truth to it.

Thanks!

Just got a black V3 for Cingular with a one year plan for $100 bucks. Thought it would be more $$....

Just go to CNET.com and you'll see that they call it the "Cingular Black V3."

Where did you get it for that price? Are you a new Cingular customer or did you upgrade/extend your contract?

Posted by: Alfred_Neuman

ikll book mark this thread for later use

Posted by: anubis9278

Once upon a time...

Cingular sold a blue Nokia 8260, a red Nokia 8260, and a grey Nokia 8260. Why not relive the past and sell a black V3 and a silver V3.

By the way silver is exclusive, black is not. However, in the same breath, it could change tomorrow.

Click the link that I provided in my 1st post. You have one of the

Your post should have read like this: " Bad news FOR ME , mine does not record video, where have you seen one that does?" I then would have told you to click the link, LINKman.

annnndddd you've actually used one of the 2nd Gen versions that do? (I'm not talking about flexing or flashing to get it to do so)

I hate to say it but in my experience websites have been wrong in the information that is listed for features on mobile phones--now if it's listed in all the places not just this one site I would be more apt to believe it--until then, I'll believe it when I see it.

well, my experience with this particular website is that they're spot on with their phone details. Evey phone I have purchased from them is
exactly as it's described. No, I haven't purchased a Black V3 from them, but
I'm willing to bet they're info is correct.

Amen, howardforums.com has an unlocked version for $349.00. I'm definitely considering it.

Posted by: vandan

What, me worry?

So Alfred . . . any new news about Cingular carrying the V3?

Please.

Posted by: tonydrone

Just a few links to show that the Black v3 does record video...
buzz-mobile
moto

This is just to show that there is in fact a Black v3
available with video capture, Hopefully Cingular
decides to release this one!

Posted by: shortyd999

I guess it does then.

Posted by: Linkman

OK, those links are all interesting, BUT does anyone actually own and/or use a Black V3 that records video. I remember when the V3 first came out many people were confused about the "video capable" feature description as meaning that it would record video. We sell the Black V3 at my store and I have seen a bunch come through my store -- NOT A SINGLE ONE HAD VIDEO RECORD. I would really like to hear from someone who has actually used the feature -- websites are sometimes wrong (gasp). If we get one that does I will report.

In the mean time it would be nice if the two "rumors" that started this thread could be substantiated.
1) Cingular actually selling the Black V3?
2) A black V3 that actually has video record?

Posted by: mamosley

the handset matrix shows the black v3 will be the same price as the silver and says "Markets may promote the black version due to T-Mobile offer on silver (July)"

This is the one I would like to know. I trust and believe Alfred, but can we get an exact date?

Please, Alfred?!?

Posted by: tonydrone

This isn't a rumor man, and it's not your imagination, and it's not any sort of confusion. O2 is a huge company in europe.
And the headline clearly states:
Motorola V3 RAZR (Video Recorder Black Edition) on O2.

And this quote is straight from MOTO's site:
Inside the ultra-thin design of the Incredible Motorola V3 Special Black Edition are advanced features like MPEG4 video capture, Bluetooth® wireless technology, a digital camera and more.

Or did I miss read your question?

Ok, this is cingular we are dealing with, when you can pick it up in the store or from the website is when it is available. For example the internal docs on the moto a630 said it will be available jan 25, 2005, but the phone isnt being released to the public. the docs for the black razor have an estimated eta of 7/24

AGAIN, I would just like first hand knowledge that there is a Black V3 Razr some where in someones little hand that they are able to capture video on. I have a Black V3, I have sold the Black V3 and guess what, my distributor imports them from Europe and Asia. CURRENTLY, they DO NOT RECORD VIDEO. Maybe they will someday -- I don't know. Things often change from when Motorola publishes info on their website and when they deliver the product (IF they deliver the product).

Posted by: tonydrone

Alright, so check it out.... I just wrote to the Owner of
Wireless Imports. He sell's this phone Unlocked to the US market. So I'd say he's as good a source as anybody.

"Hello Sir/s,

My question is about the Black V3.

Does it in fact Record Video?

Thank you in advance.

[tony]"

And here is his response (which was in about 2 min.)

"Yes. It does record video for a fact.

Regards,

Wireless Imports"

I will forward you the email if you'd like.

I'm looking at the same doc and i see an ETA of 6/24 and the lifecycle says it will Live along side Silver version V3.... But I wouldn't trust it, that spreadsheet is always wrong on dates... and they only seem to update it twice a month.

The black razr will never be carried by Cingular. They already have the phone out right now. The only reason Cingular would ever opt to take this phone is if they discontinued the silver version. Same reason they opted not to pick the V635 for their portfolio. They were afraid it would have too much compatition with the v551. Silly IMO but what can you do except wine and moan about it!

Sorry Dude but thats not true. Many of us who have access to the Cingular intranet (including my self being an AT&T Wireless Employee) have seen the reports. The Black Razr is all ready out of Cingulars testing labs and will soon ship to local stores. They are not going to discontinue the silver version. The black and silver will live along side each other. The only question is when is it going to hit stores... right now ETA on ship date is June 24th.

Also the Black Razr now shows on cingulars sales portal and has an SKU for Orange and Blue.

The Siliqua or how ever the spelling is is the v1150... It has a 2MP camera and a VGA for video calling.

v1150, no!!! maybe next year, i'm talking present. It called Siliqua but i dont kow the model number, however its not the v1150

Posted by: RHStansbury

A local store told me today they could be in stores as early as next week. Any truth to this?

Posted by: -EAD-

Just talked with someone at NBO that was very informative...

She told me to wait another month before buying one because the v3's are not moving as fast as they want them to and it looks like another price decrease is in the near future.

The other thing she confirmed was that there is a RaZr v3b that is in their product list and it is the Black Razr but all it says is coming out soon. She also told me that it said they would only be available for Cingular contracts... and not Blue.

As long as there are no snags in shipping they could be in by next weekend.... Off topic i just got a call from cingular and ive been promoted to Advanced Network Service Rep in the Data support center.

Cnet.com has already reviewed the Cingular-branded
Black V3 and NO video capture.

You are wrong.

The Silicia (correct spelling) is a v1150 variant for the US.

http://engadget.com/entry/1234000687046729/ is the Silicia, likely released around year end (November/December)

Black V3 is just that, a V3

Posted by: seshwan

guys, no offense, but you know that there are multiple software versions for every phone, and unfortunately they are not dependent on the outside colour. All RAZR's are capable of taking video, the early ones just didn't have the correct software to do so.

Did that order sheet say when it would be in stores?

Posted by: cellgeek101

the order sheet says"EXPECTED JULY", but then again it also says that Cingular is re-releasing the MPX-220 next month as well. What I did see was a pretty nice looking LG phone though. Nothing high end, but a solid looking phone at that. The model was lg c2000, check phone arena to check the specs.

I can´t belive Motorola made me feel like a jerk again!

I can´t really understand the reason why the use Video Capture capable hardware limited by soft!! at first i couldn´t really belive that all the V3´s can record video! i felt the same way when i "discovered" the fourth band and the video playback in the V300!!..so they did it again!

With so much competition phones in the market that RECORD video from factory, why they placed their phone in such a disadvantage?

I don´t think they are SOOO NICE that they want US to make money upgrading to Video Recording for 50 Buck!
Anyway, thanks for that! HeHe

well now cingular did release the black v3 in stores now for the same price as the silver, actualy the cingular lady just called me and asked if id rather have the black or the silver v3 for the same price like 10 seconds ago haha well now my black v3 is being shipped and i should have it on wednsdayyyyy

Actually yes it does record video, just not with the stock Cingular firmware.

A few tweaks later and it does.

I originally had a Silver v3 I won in the Motorola Contest, ended up feeling the grass might be greener on the other side. So I sold it and bought a SE s710a and completely hated it. So I took it back and got the black v3. So I came full circle, but back to where I belong, with a Motorola.

I must admit though, the black v3 is still an attention getter, and although the silver v3 was starting to become common place, the black version gets all the "ohhhhhs and ahhhhhs' from people.

Posted by: hitbyaprkedcar7

http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/Web_...ondaryOption=-1

no where on the motorolas site does it say the v3 records video. im hoping it does, ill see wednsday when i get it. if it doesnt ill flash or flex it i just have to find a good guide to follow so i dont f up my phone, so when i get it if anyone wants to PM me with good instructions on how to not f it up, go ahead haha

Posted by: PipesterDP

that is what i was going by, it says it can playback video, and i believe the question was if he got his phone from cingular would it do video... so the answer is no, however obviouly with tweaks it could...

Will not work, doesn't have the correct PTT software and I also assume hardware (if any). Cingular uses Kodiak and almost all of the phones use POC except the ones Cingular has or is about to get.

Well, I'm going to try it. I saw in P2K commander there was a "Cingular PTT Menu" in the seem functions. Then I'd have to set the smart key to PTT. If it works I'll let you know.
