Nokia Series 40 and Series 60 Reset Codes

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: TriBand81

Here are the reset codes I have collected:

Nokia Series 40 and Series 60 Reset Codes:

Full Reset: (clears everything off the phone memory!! Be sure to back up your contacts!!): *#7370#, 12345 and then Yes.

Soft Reset: *#7780#, 12345 and then Yes. (Also works on Nokia S40 phones, NOTE: On the 6230/6230b, same as going to the Factory Reset option under Settings!! Thanks to Tris for the headsup!!)

*#335738#
*#delset#

This deletes the Email, GPRS, MMS settings that cannot be erased via phone options. (Series 40 phones only)

Nokia 9300 (not confirmed) and Nokia 9500 (based on link below):

1. Turn off phone and take out battery
2. Insert battery, and while it boots up press and hold Ctrl + Shift + F
3. After a few seconds you will be asked if you want to format or cancel

Have fun

Posted by: Tris1

Do those series 40 codes only work for Euro 6230s?

Posted by: TriBand81

Are you asking about all codes marked as S40 or about a specific code, Tris?

Posted by: Tris1

All s40 codes. I remember that those codes did the same function as going to the menu and selecting a factory reset to defaults. All my data still remained.

Posted by: TriBand81

Ah yes, I remember now. I will have to make a correction to the post about that.

Posted by: Tris1

Thank you. I just want to keep others from having to learn the hard way like I did. I'm surprised that those codes are so region specific...

Posted by: TriBand81

I'll have to test your hypothesis on a European 6230 when I get the chance. It's possible that it'll produce the same results as on a 6230b. If not, then we can conclude that it's probably firmware-related.

Posted by: Tris1

Thank you. I can't wait to see the results.

Posted by: kennethmgreen

Full reset code does not work for me (using 6230b Cingular/US).

*#7370# gives me the following: Result unknown

Soft reset does work, but that doesn't help me. I need to zap all the e-mail settings, personal pics, etc. because I have to exchange my phone.

Any suggestions? I will be manually deleting stuff in the meantime...

[edit]
Ugh.. this is going to be a nightmare... Because I had some settings sent from the Nokia website, there are 3 or 4 active profile settings. There doesn't seem to be a way to easily delete these settings (do I have to manually go into each field and change the value)???

I really need a hard reset code that works! Please....

Posted by: kennethmgreen

OK, upon re-reading this thread I realized that I am asking for the same thing Tris1 is asking for. When I first read through this, I thought Tris1 was looking for European codes (based on TriBand81's reply).

Ahhh.. The following code does what I need:

*#335738#

While that code doesn't do a hard reset that clears everything, it does give me a list of E-mail, GPRS and MMC profile settings that I can delete.

Thanks for providing this!!

Posted by: TriBand81

Glad I could help , any partial success is always better than no success.

Posted by: zalameh1

hello,
the delset code doesnt work on newer nokias eg. 7270, 6230i..
do u know if there is a new code?

Posted by: TriBand81

No, unfortunately not. I've always wondered how people figure these codes out.

Googling doesn't produce any viable results either. I noticed your thread over at Mobileburn.com.

I'll let you know if I come across anything.

Posted by: murtaza_16

Does anybody know full reset code for nokia 6800, *#7370#

Posted by: mhunt50

I have a Nokia 6230i that the security code was changed on, is there a way to find that out or to reset the phone completely? Cingular/US. Thanks.

Posted by: TriBand81

Nope, the only fix is a firmware reflash.

Posted by: yellowsky

to do a master reset I require a secuity code. any one know a way to reset the security code??? I accidently change it and lost it some where.

Posted by: TriBand81

Read my previous post --> a forgotten security code can only be reset through a firmware reflash .

Posted by: malinda

Some time my sisters Nokia 3100 does not rings. Is it ok to do a Soft reset!

Posted by: TriBand81

Yep, provided she has all of her info backed up somehow (mostly contacts - it's best if she copied them to the SIM just to be safe).

Sorry I beg to differ. Try this link

Posted by: TriBand81

You can try it, but I certainly won't enter my IMEI on a website.

Posted by: loksmith

I forgot my security code on a 3595 that I owned and was told by everyone that it couldn't be reset. I took it to Cellular One and the young girl there typed in a few numbers on the keypad and handed it back to me, reset to the default 12345. Wish I knew what she inputted.

Posted by: loksmith

I was also wondering if there is a way to turn GPS off and on for a Nokia 6101b? Cellular One say you have to call them to turn it off or on.

Posted by: TriBand81

Ask in the Regional Provider Forum. AFAIK, that is where other Cellular One users post. The employee at the store didn't connect any kind of cable to your phone while inputting the sequence?

www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&f=54

Posted by: loksmith

Nope... just keyed in some code and gave it back to me...reset. BTW, thanks for the info on the other forum.

Posted by: TriBand81

No problem

What that Young Girl entered was the Master Code to reset/format your Phone. A master code is very specific to a phone and is determined by the IMEI of the phone. She must have gotten your IMEI from her records.

Posted by: loksmith

Thank you Perseus71, you are absolutely right. There was a link on this forum that I came accross ( http://nfader.z-host.ru/ ) that said you could get the master code from your inputted IMEI, but I hesitated to use it. After reading your post, I took my old 3595 that I don't use and changed the Security code. I then entered the IMEI on that page and it immediately came back with the Security Mastercode. I went to the change security frame on my phone and entered it instead of the security code I set. It asked me what I wanted the new code to be and set it to whatever I put in. It would be nice to get this Mastercode Securitycode generater as a stand a lone.

If Only Wishes were Horses... Blah Blah Blah...

There are such standalone programs out there. But the problem is a vast majority of then are for Series 60 phones (I use Series 80) Also those are for Generating the UNLOCK Codes. (The kind that frees up your handset from Network) So a search is extremely impossible.

Posted by: loksmith

If there is some sort of algorithm, it must be a pretty simple one. When the girl at Cell 1 reset my security code, she just looked at the IMEI ( I think) and proceeded to key in some numbers. The master security code reset for my 3595 is a ten digit number. She didn't write anything down on paper and I don't think her memory was that good that she would remember a ten digit number. I think this program will work on any GSM phone. If I see her in the near future, I will try to talk her into revealing the BIG secret.

Posted by: TriBand81

It's definitely not rocket science, there are only so many possbilities and the sequence before entering the security code is probably a standard *#(10-digit code)# combination.

Posted by: Camshaft83

I tried this link but the window to put the IMIE in is too small and doesn't fit the 15 digit number excluding forward slashes. And all these codes where you press *#... once you press pound it is like pressing enter and says code incorrect....

Posted by: Camshaft83

ignore me I figured it out....next time I won't lose my moto V635 and have to revert to my nokia 3595....

Posted by: dying4004

i tried *#7370# and now my phone is saying OFFLINE. and none of my sim cards can be found by the 6681. wht can i do now???

Posted by: TriBand81

Make sure your 6681 isn't set to the Offline Profile (Flight Mode). Look under Menu --> Settings or Tools --> Profiles.

Posted by: tac25

I want to thank Perseus71 for the link to the Master Security Code reset site. I was able to reset my code. Unfortunately, before finding this thread I went to one of the sponsored links from this site at nokiasecuritycode.com and paid them the $3.99 for a code. After taking my money through PayPal, their website said "your master unlock code is: error". No code just an error. The price is so cheap they probably figure people won't waste the time contesting it, but it is the biggest scam I have seen.

Posted by: rhdgsm

Too bad dude. 3.99 x 10000 victims is tons of $$

Hi,
My Nokia 3220 phone just started displaying the headset icon and I've never plugged a headset into it. Is there some way to tell it te get out of headset mode? Will a factory reset help? I've called Nokia but I got my phone 14 months ago and they say it's out of warranty. Brutal!

Thanks,
Greg

Posted by: TriBand81

The most common problem tends to be dust or grime on the connector pins causing a short circuit. Have you tried cleaning the contacts?

Thanks for the response. I did try cleaning the contacts with alcohol but it didn't work. Would someone happen to have the pinouts for this connector? Maybe I can manually/forcefully un-short it. I was going to try the reset code tonight also... should I not bother with that?

Posted by: swordude

can someone tell me where you enter these codes?

Posted by: TriBand81

Sure, you enter them in the display when your phone is in standby mode. Simply enter *#7370# and press Send for example.

For those that have experienced my problem, I fixed it by cleaning the connector (thanks TriBand81). There was some rust on the inside of the phone on the connector so I followed the directions here http://uselessinfo.pwp.blueyonder.c...smantle3220.htm
to disassembe the phone and scrape away the rust and wipe away the guck.

Hi... im new to all this... will this work with the Nokia 6030. If not could someone point me in the right direction?

Posted by: The Mac Ace

does anyone have the new codes for s40v3 for a hard reset?
*#7370# doesnt work

Posted by: TriBand81

As noted before, *#7780# only works like a soft reset on certain models. Perhaps someone more experienced with the new S40 handsets can add more than this code. I'm sure there is a hard reset code out there as well.

Posted by: The Mac Ace

yes, and i desparately need it

Posted by: rhdgsm

Okie how about Hard Reset on N70? Which button to press? SoftLeft+Call+"C" and press OFF/ON switch? I dunno which button to press, please help.

Posted by: TriBand81

You might try asking this in the regular/S60 Nokia forums since that is one question I can't answer with the new NSeries and other up-to-date Nokia handsets since I haven't used one myself.

Good Luck

Posted by: Photolinguist

I have a 6680. It's european and I'm not. I need to unlock it.
Can anyone offer any assistance?

Posted by: TriBand81

We can't discuss unlocking subjects in the forums themselves. Check your PM.

Posted by: TriBand81

This is a thread discussing how to reset your phone and not how to unlock it. Don't post your links here. It's as simple as that.

Posted by: CELLPDA.TK

Thanks guys for your input in providing these codes! Great work!

Posted by: TriBand81

They may not work for every Nokia handset in every way but most of the time, most codes apply to most handsets.

Posted by: encece

*#7370#, 12345 worked like a charm in hard resetting my 6682. Thanks. I love HowardForums!

Posted by: TriBand81

The S60 codes normally work for the newer S60 handsets as well. The only thing that might be different for certain models is the default security code. I've tried 12345 on the 6680s & 6681s that the local Saturn (German counterpart to Best Buy) had on display and they would tell me that the code was wrong. I would find it hard to believe if they went to the trouble to change the default security code.

Can anyone tell me how to do a hard reset on a Nokia 6103? My cell ask for my security code and when I type in my securitycode it says it is the wrong code

Posted by: TriBand81

Try 12345, if it's been changed then you'll have to take it to a shop for it to be reset or you can try this link at your very own risk:

http://nfader.z-host.ru/

Posted by: maddoguk

ive tryed the *#7370# code on my 6610i and no joy any other full reset codes that could be posted please?

Posted by: TriBand81

*#7370# will only work with certain Series 40 and all Series 60 (Symbian OS smartphones) handsets. The only confirmed reset code that works with the 6610i as a soft reset is *#7780# which is the same as selecting a factory reset from the menu under Settings.

Posted by: maddoguk

thanks for that but realy needs a full reset as things have been deleated like games and ringtones that werent replaced by the soft reset

Posted by: TriBand81

Yep there is no full reset code for the 6610i.....I don't know why Nokia allocated it only to certain handsets.

Good Luck

Posted by: maddoguk

thanks for that

nokia just went down in my books

Posted by: ruffey05

Has anyone figured out how to do a hard reset on any S40 v3 phones yet?

Posted by: pehyang

Has anyone know what is the Full reset code for Nokia 6280?

Posted by: TriBand81

Try asking in the main forum. S40 V3 handsets don't work with the settings posted in my first post.

Posted by: rockabilly

:-) Thanks for the reset info ( I have used it)..I bought a 6230 of eBay...it was a un locked/Orange 6230....
But the guy left (forgot to delete) alot of, hmm, hemp type pic's an chit on the phone! I lol'd/deleted

I'm a Fido Pay as Ya Go guy, ...in the 6230 he left 2 connection/profiles..could not delete them... after deleting the sellers ka-ka (conections/profiles) (using the codes) I was able to:
Use my Fido internet after config'n it myself (and they don't support the 6230...) ....
? does the 6230i take good enough pic's for me to grab it? (I'm not a big cell head.....use it 5X a month..but dig the pic/vid feature...I have a 512 MB card in mine....should I go for it?
Thanks In Advance

Posted by: ortomaderman

Hello people,

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? Mate has got a Nokia 6230i that's suddenly gone very sick....When he powers up (with a sim card in), he gets the Nokia logo ok followed by the 2 hands coming together animation ok, then a split second of the main menu....then nothing?
It appears to power down???

If you try powering up without a sim - it stays on ok ("Insert Sim Card" displayed) - and allows you to enter digits ok. I've tried a few of the ones on previous posts (some work, some don't).

I've bought the DKU-2 lead and loaded up the Nokia pc suite hoping i could talk to it that way (he really only wants the contacts off it), but no joy....

Any ideas???

*#0000# yields: Nokia 6230i - V 03.62 - 04-Nov-05 RM-72

Thank you.

Rob

Posted by: TriBand81

Rob,

sure sounds like a startup problem. Have you tried another SIM?

Posted by: ortomaderman

Thanks for the reply.....Yep, tried several SIMs in it - but no joy.

It only stays powered up with NO sim inserted???

Posted by: TriBand81

It sure sounds like a strange problem. You might consider taking it to a shop or Nokia dealer to have it looked at.

Hi,is there any reset code for 6270 ?I cant open my outbox, sent messages, drafts,Operation failure is appeared! help me.TNX

Posted by: TriBand81

Hi there,

as far as I know there is no full reset code for the newer Series 40 handsets. That includes the 6270. The only codes I know of are in my Series 40/60 Reset Codes thread.

*#7780# is the closest thing to a Full Reset.

Good Luck,

Posted by: dbd

it worked on my friend's !! thanks bro

Posted by: TriBand81

Thank you! I've been searching for a way to Hard Reset my Nokia 6682 and this worked perfectly.

Posted by: Tepene

The truth is that you cant reset the phone if you dont have the phone code I advice you search for this mobile software its called "Unlockme"

Posted by: SFGary

Just a quick thanks to triband81 and tris? for providing the reset code for the S60 series. I did something idiotic so that when a call went to voicemail it went directly to the user menu instead of to where the cingular welcome msg. comes on. But the *#7780#, 12345 worked perfectly to reset my E50 back to the original factory settings - thnx guys!

Posted by: cellj

No master (full) reset code for newer Series 40/60? All I can do is factory reset.

Posted by: turku_jordan

Hy. I have a problem. I have a Nokia 6230i and I tried the master reset code *#7370# and it saids result unknown. Do you another code for master reset? I really to do a master reset to my phone. Please.

Posted by: mykel86

Has anyone tried the mastercode reset? Did it work?

Posted by: dstroyr

I have been given a 6103 that needs to be unlocked. T-Mobile's customer service gave me the unlock procedure BUT when I complete it I receive a code " Cannot remove restrictions." The phone boots with a message telling me to insert the SIMM card. I have Cingular as a provider so I dont want to foul the SIMM card in any way. So if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it as I would like to use the phone instead of my 8125 PDA when out on the Harley.

Thanks,

Right people.. i had a problem the other day with my Nokia 6230I and i woke up one morning to find i cudnt unlock my Security Keyguard because my security code appeared to be wrong. i entered my code about 70 times and im 1000% positive i was entering the right code. With the Security Keyguard u cant unlock your Keypad what so ever so your basically stuck with one big problem. DO NOT THINK UR INSANE IF YOUR GOIN THROUGH THIS WITH YOUR PHONE BECUASE IVE CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. i suppose if your reading this your looking for a solution.. well i have your solution right here..

1. Go to this website [ Security Mastercode Calculator ]
2. Remove your battery from your Nokia 6230I
3. Remove your Memory Card on your Nokia 6230I
4. On the Security Mastercode Calculator website enter the 15 digit long number which should look like this xxxxxx/xx/xxxxxx/x

Simply enter the 15 digit code without the "/" and it will generate your Mastercode for your phone.. use the Mastercode instead of your Security Code and there u have it. Your Keypad should now be unlocked.

This 10000% worked for me and i hope this post is useful to the people who posted previously. Good Luck!!
