i am trying to make some complete color scheme files for the mpx220.. unfortunately, i dont know the right code to skin some elements, so i hope someone can point me in the right direction.

for example, during a call, or when dialling a number, there is a bar on top of the screen which says 'smartphone' and this bar is always blue even when i change the color scheme.

when i get an incomming call, and i have not assigned any picture to the caller, the default screen shows the outline of a person, and this screen is also in blue and doesnt fit the color scheme.

there are other things like icons for calendar and contact info, like the ones that appear during a call, which are generally blue-based. is there a way to change the default icon set and replace it witha custom one?

You can't change the color because those are bitmap images. You would have to find the registry keys that point to those images and edit the registry to point a different image.

I am still trying to find the registry key that points to the blueband that says "smartphone" on it. I have a new image ready to go, but can't find the key to edit. I do have my Cingular start-up and shut-down screens chaged though.

can you point me to where the bitmaps are stored on the phone so i can get them off the phone and color them suitably?

As soon as you open up the phone, you will see a "Windows" directory and the GIF files are stored there.

You will have to edit the registry though. I found the registry strings that contain the "ms_mobile" info (light blue Smartphone banner)

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSBranding\Bann er Image
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCdial\Banner Image

i am not able to copy these files out of the windows directory. it says you are not allowed to copy these files. how do you get them off the device to color them for the scheme?!

They are protected. You will need to find them on the phone via the phones file manager and send them to your computer via BT. You can not move these files or copy them to your computer thru ActiveSync by hitting the explore button.

no bluetooth on my computer

can someone pull these bitmaps and png's and email them to me? i would really appreciate it and it would help me in making some good and complete scenes.

That's the way I do it. The files won't show up on your PC unless you can view hidden system files but as far as getting them off of the phone, I use explore through activesync. (4.0 preview if that matters)

tiger, if it will make it easier for you, I can zip up whatever images you want and email them to you. Just let me know what files you want.

i am not sure what gifs need to be skinned to get rid of all the blue. so far i have only noticed the smartphone banner and the caller picture. i am sure there are more. can you just pull all the gif's and png's from the windows directory and email them to me as a zip file. my email is stuffedtiger79@yahoo.com
