RIM BalckBerry email on PlamOS?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I remember a year ago or so Palm (forgot if it's PS or PO) and RIM had a cross license agreement. Whatever happened to that? Is there software for PalmOS that will do Blackberry email?

At work we are issued RIM devices which are great for email... but IMO sucks as a PDA. I have to carry two devices if I want the best of both worlds.

Ideally if I can get a Treo 650 to do RIM wireless email, I'd be a happy camper and wouldn't have to carry more than one device.

You're thinking of Blackberry Connect. RIM and PalmSource (not PalmOne) never came an agreement (not yet at least) and it was never released for the Palm OS. There are alternatives out there which provide push e-mail for the Treo like Goodlink which is designed for business. There's also ChatterEmail for personal use with an IMAP4 account with IDLE command support.

That's pretty cool, I didn't realize the product was out in beta form. Although I've read reviews that say Goodlink works better than Blackberry and would be a better choice for non-RIM devices.

Verizon has a website the pushes your email to the 650. Works great and I was a Blackberry 7210 user for 18 months.

I'm well aware of other push email products out there but I more interested in the Blackberry connect. It's not likely my company will use another push tech if they already have BES.

The lest link looks promising.

A friend of mine came to me yesterday and mentioned that his frat brother from college works in the new product testing department at VZW and stated that blackberry connect will be ready for VZW users by the end of the year. I don't know how reliable the info was.

Jonovin,

By "Blackberry email" do you mean true push email - or something else. If it "push email" you are looking for - I've been using Chatteremail with a Fastmail IMAP account - wow real push email and it works. (On my Treo 650)

I mean secure corporate email that talks to the corporate BES server that allows you to securley sync email, schedules, etc... Some Nokias have this BlackBerry Connect software. I believe it's also available for SymbianOS (e.g. SonyEricsson P910), and it's also available for PocketPC.
