I called cingular today and asked them if they had any motorola mpx220 in stock and they said they had to ship them back cause the software on it was messed up
Ne one know whats up with this phone

they're somewhat correct. the primary issue is earpiece volume, which Moto should be able to fix with a ROM upgrade. for those of us with the phone, we will be able to update the software once Moto releases the official updated ROM. right now, if you have an online updater, you could get the latest ROM - 1.43 - that (in my opinion) significantly addresses the earpiece volume issue.

I personally never had an issue with the volume. Its not as loud as other phones but I think its still loud enough. Maybe the asian ROMs have better volume?

the volume was much better with the Asian 1.40 ROM vs. 1.30 and 1.39 Cingular ROMs. in my opinion, the volume on the 1.43 Cingular/ATT ROM is just as good as the 1.40 Asian ROM.
