Just wondering if anyone has gotten any info as to when XBM would get MPX220's back in stock...

Posted by: Omega2008

Its still backordered, I have heard near the end of June.

Posted by: SHoTTa35

they called me saying they'll be back on June 2nd. I'm "first on the list since i've been waiting so long" so let's see if they will come thru... they better!!!

Posted by: juliej5

That's funny - they told me I was at the top of the list, so it should come quick. I bet they are feeding that BS to everyone!

Posted by: Omega2008

Yep! You would be better off geting a MPx 220 with the old firmware and upgrading it to the latest version 1.430.

Posted by: juliej5

I would have no problem doing that...except the one I have now will not take a charge AT ALL, wall charger or USB. Second time it has happened too, so I am stuck with a dead one til Cingular comes thru...

...i'm waiting since april 30th...

Did you clean the contacts on the charger and the CE Bus (connector on the bottom of the phone) with a eraser? Try pushing the charger in and them pushing sligtly to the right, watch the battery Icon and see if it changes to the charging icon.

Posted by: juliej5

I haven't tried the eraser, but I will...when I tried moving the connector around, I could hear a buzz (assuming that means electricity is flowing) but then nothing, and no change in the battery indicator

Posted by: Omega2008

No the buz is GSM radio interference, you will hear it come out of your near by speakers (radio's, stereo systems, computer speakers, tv's). Have you tried a different charger? The USB cable and the wall charger are cheeply made, I had to replace both of them when I got my phone.

Posted by: SHoTTa35

well i just cleaned the contacts even tho i was sure it wasn't that (since i have 2 sync/charge cables and 3 ac adapters and none works while they all work with my V600) Didn't work either... jiggled it around to see if there was a short and nothing still! They better get this worked out soon so i can upgrade to 1.43!

Posted by: Omega2008

Well there is one last thing...take your fingernail and scratch at the three gold connectors on the CE bus....don't ask why just try it lol....secondly, get a can of compressed air and try to blow out any forgien particals that maybe lodged in the CE bus....if that doesn't work then I am out of options....I just can't fathom why it would stop taking a charge unless its some kind of software problem...which I doubt.

Posted by: SHoTTa35

well i didn't mention it before but my hs810 has stopped charging also (no i don't abuse my stuff) but after some abuse (banging on my leg out of frustration) it started charging - not doing that to the MPx220 tho :-D Well charging only for like 10 seconds or so then the light goes out again.

And i have a metal brush that i used to scratch the contacts then air blow any dust outta there and no luck. I keep my phone on my belt in holsters (along with my HS810) so i doubt it's dust but it was worth a shot

I guess something in the phone got disconnected....odd....oh well I tried. I guess you pluged in the charger with to much force and could of set something loose or you could of jarred the phone and cause something to break loose inside.

nope never dropped it and it sleeps in a bed of velvet so always nice and protected :-D

Posted by: Omega2008

lol well i guess you got a bad one. I keep mine in case when not in use.

Posted by: SHoTTa35

ha, i did it... i used my V600 battery + twist ties and proceeded to power it on and it worked. THe phone booted up no problem so it's definitely the battery being dead from the phone not charging it. I look at both batteries and noticed they were both 3.6 volts then followed the +/- contacts and used the twist ties as conductors. Hit the power button and viola! but sux cuz i'd need 4 hands to keep it in that position and talk on it.

I have one and I use it to charge my second battery works very well.

Posted by: juliej5

Thanks for the charger tip - but does that mean I have to get a second battery? Does it have to be Motorola branded???

Posted by: SHoTTa35

yeah that i figured but i gotta buy something else to make my phone work. i'll just use the v600 till these peoples get me my phone.

YES! Aftermarket batteries are BAD for one good reason...they are not made as well and can explode...especailly in a device that uses alot of power like the MPx 220. Besides you can get a OEM Motorola MPx 220 battery from www.cnn.cn like I did, it was only 10.00 bucks!!

Ok I'll order one. I see that its Hong Kong, I hope the battery gets here (US) before I get the new phone!

Posted by: Omega2008

It takes about a week. I have bought many things from there...very good service and reliable.

julie j - why don't you take it to a Cingular Corp Store and see if they'll give you a replacement battery while you wait for a replacement phone?

Posted by: juliej5

I dont actually think its the battery, because this happened to me before with my last MPX220. The phone stopped takinga charge. Also, if Cingular lends me a battery and it IS the battery, when XBM sends a new phone, they wont send me a battery anyways. Will they just give me one?
