putting Cingular firmware on an AT&T 6620?

I just bought an unlocked AT&T 6620 (didn't know it was AT&T until after I got it)..... is there any way for me to reflash the firmware with cingular firmware? Or do I have to take it into a service center or something?

if you cherish your mp3 ringtones, then keep the att firmware

Isn't that just with the newer Cingular firmware? Because I know some people with Cingular 6620's who have mp3 ringtones...

very true, but like that cliche, if it aint broke dont fix it.

you never know what might just happen.
flashing it yourself cannot be done unless you have hundreds of dollars and access to the files. you see if chippery9 wasnt in trouble with the law, i would say send it straight to him!

your going to have to try contacting gsmphonesource.com (located in Nevada) or perhaps any of the market place people here to see if they can do it; albeit they are from Canada.

We can flash it for you in the USA... the latest version, 4.22.1, is only available with Cingular branding, and you will lose mp3 ringtones. You can get 3.14.1 unbranded though, and you will still have mp3 ringtones.

Time to resurrect this thread! So at the rate that Nokia releases firmware for the 6230, i'm assuming 4.22.1 will be around for a few weeks before the next major firmware update? Other than the mp3 ringtones and network selection, what does the unbranded have as opposed to the Cingular branded?

Besides those things, the only other difference is that unbranded firmware does not have the Cingular logos inside, for starting up, shutting down, within the menus, wallpapers, and themes.

6230 firmware comes out very regularly because it is sold in nearly every country worldwide. There are a lot of operator names to update regularly and it is still sold by dozens of providers. Since the 6620 is only sold in the Americas, updates for it won't be released as frequently.
