ESN ffffffff

Hey, I just recently flexed my Razr with the Cingular branded flex and I seem edited so that I could see the ESN. When I go to see the esn all I see is ffffffff (8 f's). Is this normal? I just want to make sure that ESN is working so that I can get the best reception for my phone. Is there another way to find out if ESN is working. I did a search a found information about the field test mode. It says to hit the menu button and then the left soft button. Is the menu button the middle button in between the two soft buttons? I enabled the seem that would allow me to turn the field test mode on but I don't see it working. If someone could shed light on the ESN information and the field test question that would be great!

RAZR doesnt have an ESN (Electronic Serial Number) it has an IMEI instead. So thats probaly why its showing screwed up. only Analog, CDMA, TDMA, Ect., phones use an ESN.

you cant see an ENS, so why would the original poster want to enable ENS when its not a physical number or something you can see? He probaly meant ESN as in what TDMA/CDMA phones use

he mentioned cinular flex for ENS i think...

Sigh...

He said he seem edited the phone to show the ESN.

The problem with that is that there is NO ESN on GSM phones. And ESN's are actually being phased out of CDMA handsets, first by pESN, and then by MEID's.

But I digress. the reason you see all F's for your ESN is because there is no ESN associated with your phone.

When you try to read the phone in MultiFlashFlex, you'll get the same thing on the bottom, ESN: FFFFFFF

It's "ENS"... and the best way to tell is to flash with stock, see how your reception acts, then flex with Cingular and see if there's a difference. Most on Cingular will notice a big difference, while a small few notice that it actually causes problems with reception and go back to stock.

As for "ESN", don't worry about that, lol

Clearly you didn't read the post I just made above.

He WAS worried about the ESN. Nobody EVER mentioned ENS until people who had no idea what was going on started posting.

And I already explained the ESN.

He said he flexed to Cingular and was doing this for better reception and wanted to see if it was working...based on that, I'm guessing the OP confused the two terms as they are very much similar...

lol...we'll have to wait for him to post back what he was getting at...

Ok, taking bets...

let him learn from his mistakes, if he wants an ESN on a GSM phone, he needs to buy a GAIT phone such as the nokia 6340i which has both an IMEI and an ESN!

Jeepers this is a stupid thread, the guy probably got embarrased and isn't going to reply.
