Hey I am new here, and I just received my P910A, so far I am liking it, but I have a ton of questions I need answered.

First I was wondering if I can set up this phone to get email from my work Exchange server. I have searched through these forumns, and do not see anyone talking about it. Can someone help me out?

Also, my phone wont backup up. I conncect it to PC, start backup, and the phone turns off, and then when it is trying to reconnect to it, it just hangs, and I eventually get an error message? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

WHen you do a backup... it's supposed to restart the phone. So the turning off part is normal, but then it should restart by itself and do the backup. I don't know why it is hanging... can you access the phone from your computer through the My P910a and successfully browse through the folders? If so, then its not a driver prob. If you can't, then try reinstalling the software cd. Also, make sure that no third party programs are set to start automatically on phone power on. This may be a prob too. I have Handy Day 2005 professional, and it can sometimes interfear with backup. I manually have to turn off 'autostart' and then reboot the phone before I do a backup.

Hope any of this helps...

The phone is brand new, so I would guess no program would be running at startup, how would I check though? And yes I can search through the phone, but only after I restart my computer. I cant search through the phone, if I take it off the cradle, and put it back on. I have to do a restart. I am running windows XP, service pack 2. I disabled all firewalls, and still nothing.

Do you have any information on Push-email for the sony?

Thanks in advance.

No I have no info on push email.... I just use the built in email client and log on manually if I need to. In fact I dont want push email because I use the same email addy as I use at home. So I dont want it sending to my phone all the time.

As for the other problem, I also use XP service pack 2. No problems,... I can take it off the cradle and put it back on and still browse the phone. In fact I have not encountered ANY of the sync problems that people have reported here. I also use Norton Internet Security, and I dont need to disable the firewall at all for it to work!

For mail you can do one of 2 things.
You can use POP3 and just download new mail from the Exchange server, choose to leave the mail on the server, and then download to your Outlook client the next time you sync. POP3 works fine to Exchange. Or, you can use IMAP4 and sync as many mail folders as you like. I use IMAP and it works fine. I find IMAP to be a little slower than POP3. I sync about 1/2 dozen mail folders on my p910a.

You need access to port 110 for POP3 and I think it is 137 for IMAP.
