Hey all. I've been a long-time lurker of howardforums but just now made an account, so this is my first post

Anyway, my girlfriend has an Audiovox 8900 and while she was in Cancun on vacation, it started vibrating and wouldn't stop. It's been doing it nonstop for the last week and a half, and only stops if she completely disconnects the battery. Powering the phone off doesn't help.

Do you know if the vibrator is in the phone itself, or in the battery? I'm planning on taking the phone apart this afternoon to see if i can just get rid of the vibrator, but if it's in the battery that will do me no good. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

The vibrator is in the phone, not the battery.

(If she bought it retail I would take it to the store and hopefully get a free replacement.)

My treo 650 gsm unblocked has been good for 3 years. This morning, it started vibrating and didnt stop til it used up the battery. Can I disconnect the vibration?

Also the screen turned a dark color,at the time it began vibrating. It sounds like a demented mosquito! After battery ran down, I connected the charging cord. It rebooted, when through setup screens, and returned to previous demented state. I did see the phone screen for a moment, it was not connected to the network. Then it started vibbing again and screen went black....

Is it possible to disconnect te vibration? and somehow straighten out the TREO?

We probably have a winner. This is a known side affect when phones get wet.
