the TM200 is my dream phone but lately the N840 has definately caught my attention. but there are some questions i have and if its true it'll keep me from buying it...

i was reading the review of N840 on threegmobile.net and i ran across something i'm hoping isn't true:

"One thing that need to notice is that like other NEC 3G phones, the phone cannot detect any songs transferred from card readers. It can just detect songs transferred by the USB cable comes with the package. Also, when switching into a new mini-SD card, it cannot be recognized unless it has been formatted by the phone."

is this true?! tell me it isn't! card readers are excellent and very easy to use for transferring files. and if this is true then it'll COMPLETELY turn me off from the phone!

and i hear it doesn't have speaker phone. tell me this isn't true either!

That is not true. I have yet to use the Data cable, instead I use a card reader, download my mp3's to the mini-sd card and then put it into my phone. It has worked everytime. One tip is that the actual file name has to be less than 7 characters, but it's not a big deal if you set up the fields in the actual mp3, the N840 will read that and it'll have the song title and artist and all that good stuff.

The phone does have to format the card, but you only have to do it once, once the card is formatted, you're good to go. It's a 3 second process, so no sweat.

I believe there is a speakerphone, as the speaker for the phone itself is VERY loud (tho the ringtones that came with the phone are pretty lame IMO). I've managed to get the speakerphone going once, but I can't remember how I did it. But it is possible unless I did something wrong with inturn did something right

It's a great phone. Well worth the money. And the camera is phenominal to boot.

I'm selling it because I got into a car accident a couple of days ago and I need to have my car fixed. I wish I was rich enough to be able to afford both, but I need the car in working order...so the phone, she has to go.

That being said, are you interested?
