Nextel 7520

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Does the Nextel Blackberry 7520 now have full web browsing? I searched around, and only saw something about telus having the uncrippled version now. Thanks for any help! I am thinking about purchasing a blackberry tomorrow!

Posted by: BlackBerryFinch

From the sounds of posts on all the boards yes Telus/MiKE have updated their servers to enable public MDS full html browsing, seems to be so for PCS and MiKE.

Might be just me but I found the BB Browser faster and deleted ReqWireless after I made sure all is working well.

So if I install the software upgrade on my bb 7520 then I should have full html? I've been meaning to do this but I'm in the process of moving.

Posted by: rebroker

Are you getting images too? I dont! Sticking with reqwireless for now

Posted by: martin_j001

If you upgrade your software to the latest release--4.0.0.249 I think--you should have the full html browser. If you have this, you will be able to view images/web pages pretty much the exact same way you do on a pc--just on a smaller screen.

Has there been an update since last month? As I believe I have the latest

thanks

Posted by: rebroker

Actually, I had to call telus and they had to re-register me on the network and then another browser icon showed up on my BB. Now I have images

So I installed the newest software and all I see that is different is the password keeper. Should I be patient or raise hell?

You have to call telus at 1-866-558-2273 and ask for blackberry tech support and they have to re-register you on their network to get full internet. Then shut off your BB and restart it and you should have a NEW ICON!

Yep, after you download the latest software, you can re-register yourself by going into Options>Host Routing Table> then click on Register Now.....
The new browser rocks.

You might also go to your Web Client manager on the internet and there is a button below the "send service books" that say to "send internet browser". When I pushed that it was sent to my BB7520 in about 15 seconds.

I would send service books and brouser to make sure. You have got to have the VERY latest OS to have all the happen, not just 4.0 but the VERY latest.

To check your software version, go to Options-->About and read your software version there. The download 4.0.0.319 contains software version 4.0.0.249, so unless something has changed very recently you should have the latest software release (this is the same release that has been out for a couple months now). You should call Nextel, and get to tier 2 data support and inquire with them about your isssues--if nothing has worked so far they will be your best bet.

Several of us all tolf you that YOU MUST HAVE THE LATEST SOFTWARE. You can not assume that you do, you GOT to have 4.0.0.319. Get it downloaded and your problems will be solved.

U reall wanna help? Then just stfu cuz if U were to READ you would kno that it was stated that 4.0.0.249 is what ppl were saying would work. 4.0.0.319 was not even mentioned on this thread and was released less than a week ago...how can u try to flame someone when u don't even kno what's going on?!?

Posted by: martin_j001

Greasy, here is the explanation of the software, as described also in my last post. Software package 4.0.0.319 contains software applications 4.0.0.249. If you look on your blackberry, scroll to Options, click; then scroll to "About", click--it will tell you exactly what applications version you are running--it must say 4.0.0.249 here--if it does not say that, then you need to upgrade your software.

From the software update page:
Quote:
Software For BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.0 for BlackBerry 7520(TM)
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.0.0.319

Package Version: 4.0.0.319
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.0.0.249
Software Platform: 1.4.0.40

We ARE trying to help. Sorry if I lost it but you said you had the latest software so we are trying to help you assuming that you really did. Now it turns out you are not using the latest software. I downloaded this software weeks ago and it has been out for awhile.

I hope you get this worked out, as I said if you upgrade to the latest software you should have no trouble getting the BB browser.
