if they release P800 on the first release date they given
then the final production will be full of bugs.........

and that is the main relesae that it got delay so many months.

Their site seems down at the moment, is it? It says internal error 500. I was reading the first page, i wanna read the rest!!!! hah

Posted by: MrSavoy

I was getting a few internal server errors when I was requesting the pages too. It's just prolly that his server is getting alot of hits tonight since that new review is up and were all asking for the same pages at the same time. Not to worry just retry it a few times and it will come up. The site isnt down.

Nice review but, he didn't cover any of the games with the P800.

Here's a thought,

If they can't release the P800 by Dec. because there are to many bugs in it yet, what does this say about those P800's that were just sold for $2800 by Adam and other!

Posted by: jjj

What provider is getting this, T-mobile, Cingular, or ATT-GSM?

Posted by: raver0600

haha count at&t out of that, i DOUBT they would be getting the P800

Team Ayu,

I am usually an early adaptor when it comes to Ericsson or Sony Ericsson phones...Almost(?) all mobiles out these days are full of bugs...While its annoying having to deal with a buggy phone its also nice having something new to play with...

Posted by: Bengalboy

Hmm, I believe that since the P800 allows for downloadable applications, ringtones, games, etc., Sony/Ericsson will be able to provide patches, updates, etc. for the phone without having to send it off. Prototypes should be able to be upgraded or corrected for any software glitches or bugs. Hardware changes of course will not apply. But, I doubt there will be that significant of a change in hardware from prototype to production. That said, and people who disagree are allowed their opinion, the guy on Mobile Burn seems pretty pleased with his prototype!

It was also very nice of the Reviewer to give us information on where to purchase ours before it's release at the end of his review!

I certainly hope they release a T9 patch or make it a downloadable hack/software. I don't think I would want to take out the stylus everytime I write an SMS. Would you?

Posted by: caff

I heard P800 has T9 as well...........

Posted by: Bengalboy

Not being much of a PDA person, I was primarily very pleased to see that you can just browse the internet like your desktop. The browser support looks fantastic and the reviewer seemed to be impressed as well. I would have to put a lockdown of some type on the browser use as it could get expensive very quickly. I do wish he had mentioned something about it's RF performance compared to the T68i, otherwise, answered the questions I had about use of the phone.

I don't SMS that much, but I see your point. I do like using the T9 when writing email or inputing info into my phonebook with the T68i.

Read the review carefully. The reviewer clearly stated there is no T9.

Posted by: caff

hey.....but captainsm who tried it when his buddy from SE let him try for a night.....he did say that P800 has T9.......and he did actually confirm it......he also posted it on esato.com forum !!!!!!!!!

Posted by: caff

Here is the post from captainsm on esato forum, he did confirmed P800 has T9:

It's not a review .. it's a preview. To be exact, it's a review of a P800 prototype ... like the rest on the net.

A prototype gets updated all the time. T9 or not, we'll have to wait for the retail version ....

Posted by: MFO

My P800 did not have T9, you can be certain of that. I don't know if they are planning on adding it, but it would not seem to make much sense.

SE would have to pay a license fee to Tegic, and since there are other text input methods already that are decent, why bother?

As to the site errors, I believe I have them all fixed. It was due to the load, as somebody mentioned. I had to up the number of concurrent processes that the site was allowed to make use of.

The review was read 1000 times in the first 6 hours, and has been read almost 3000 times at this point (15 hours).

And as to RF performance, that is a bit hard for me to test well. Signal strength is really good here in my part of Munich. I did use it in the laundry room in the basement, though, and it seemed on par or slightly better than my t68i. So take that for what it is worth.

Hmmm ... didn't know that T9 is some proprietary stuff I tried composing a SMS on a Pocket PC using handwriting recognition. It's seriously slow and you have to control your style of writing. The keyboard is also a drag .. Well, the phone looks good enough so far ... hope the site can hold the onslaught

Posted by: MFO

The PocketPC's handwriting recognition system (Transcriber) is pretty bad if you don't set it up for your style of writing, which you probably didn't do.

I use it all the time on my iPAQ. You have to be a bit neater and such, but it is faster than graffiti for me.

Anyone know if TM USA will carry the P800? I would like to get some money off it if I buy through upgrade dept. If its 600 and I can get like 200 off, that would make the cost to me 400, which I can live with.

Posted by: brick

I hope telgic comes along and releases a T9 software patch or hack or something. It just doesn't make sense to have to take out the stylus when it's so much easier messaging with one hand.
