Hi, i was wondering if i could do the Cingular XBM thing, and get my mpx220 returned for a brand new one right? would this work if i tell them im having VERY bad issues will listening with others on the opposite end?

What if my phone has scratches and stuff, would they still take it and not charge me?

Im such a noob at this, and i would really like to fix up this phone that has been giving me much troubles.

What about this new rom that is floating around? any new clues on that?

Sincerely
Gary

yoo hoo...anyone out there?
thanks

Cingular XBM is out of stock on the MPx 220. You can upgrade your firmware to improve the volume issue or you can exchange it for a SMT 5600 via XBM...but take notice that you can't revert back to a MPx 220 if and or when they get them back in stock.

If you want to upgrade your ROM, read the forum and go to my Blog (NEW).

sooo, are they going to get new MPX 220's in stocK?? or is it over with the mpx?

I do not know. I would think that they are.

thanks man

Ohh one other thing, if my phone has scratches on the sides and stuff, will they still take it back without charging me???

Posted by: Omega2008

Nope...if your phone has cosmetic damage they will probably charge you.

Cosmetic Damage if normal wear and tear is not charged extra. I am not sure if Omega has some extra information the I am not aware of. Another thing - please do not expect the phone you get via XBM to be new - it could be a refurbished one. All the old MPX220 people returned must be at the Moto factory getting new firmware and a refurbished seal! And when they say it is in stock - that is what you get.

What they told me:

They will charge (or not accept as a trade) for the phone if it was dropped, has water damage, or if any internal seals are broken (indicating that you opened it up). Scratches and normal wear is OK...

The rep told me in no uncertain terms that they were not going to replace the 220 for a different 220... She said if I wanted to keep it, I would need to talk to Motorola for repair.

I am pretty positive that this was a misinformed rep. Water damage and damage by dropping are defenitely covered if you have lockline insurance on the phone and your IMEI is on file with them. I have done lockline exchange after dropping and shattering the phone myself and I literally bagged the pieces and send them all of what was left.

If this explanation was for a normal manufacturers warranty then I would understand, but why are we confusing XBM (eXchange By Mail as mentioned by the OP with that!).

This is without Lockline... This is for XBM...

If you have water/drop damage and if you were able to get Lockline insurance for it, then you would have to process with them, not XBM.

Lockline will not cover the MPx 220...call LockLine yourself and see...if you are paying for insurance thru Cingular you need to call and get a credit for all the months you payed for it....Unless lockline has changed there policy and now insures it.

Sorry man, Lockline does NOT cover any smart phone, including the MPX, audiovox, or any PDAs.
Might have been a one time courtesy if you were paying for insurance the whole time you had the phone, but they are NOT insurable.

depends on the scratches...

i just had one scratch on the shiny part of the cover and a few nicks on the corners

no charges...

they may or may not have the mpx220 in stock depending on who you talk to.
