Anyone have a Black RAZR + Cingular?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Someone at a local store mentioned that it's not a good idea to use the Black RAZR with cingular because it wouldn't pick up the ATT portion of the service, thus making it only "half" functional. Something to do with the bands...

Can anyone confirm or clarify? Thanks in advance.

It's a quad-band phone, so someone is lying to you.

Were you trying to switch to Cingular, but you told the sales rep that you wanted to wait for the black Razr instead? Yup, lies, lies.

My black V3 works fine however it lacks ENS. On one of my 64k sims the network preference is set to orange towers. If use black V3 the phone will register on Blue instead. But in V3 from Cingular the phone will prefer orange. ENS capability seems to be only in Cingular flex.

The guy you talked to is an idiot.

I'm not real familiar with the phone, is it shiny black al a s710a or flat black al a startac?? Cause flat black would be PIMP. And is it supposed to be released at the same price point as the original, or nearer to the new low price of the original??

I can do network search on the black V3 so I can use orange. But since it is set on manual network whenever I loose coverage I am asked to select network. It also cost $400 at full retail with no activation. The black is more like the S710a.

Comp-U-Plus sells it for $368.95, if that's any help.

Its a flat black. The color is killer and I can't wait 'til I get mine

I got mine off eBay for $300... was slightly used but couldn't tell. Works great.

the cheapest i've seen so far is $349 from howardforums.com.com but still waiting till it drops some more

I have both a silver one and now just got a black one. When I do a network search on the silver one, I get AT&T, but when I search it on the black one, I only get cingular? What gives? Maybe that guy WAS right.

Yes, but it has to do with this particular carrier.

The cheapest I seen it for was 300 at this store in NYC for either the black razr or the silver razr. The guy working at the store knows I work in the cellular industry so he will sell me it without tax if I pay cash. A coworker already took advantage of the offer. If I ever needed a replacement for my v400 I would consider the offer but for now since I have a v400 I do not see the need for a stylish looking phone that adds bluetooth. I would ratherr put my money into a ppc or treo.

Cingular launches it in the US on June 28.
