Does anyone know how to tranfer a file (for example: a pic) via bluetooth to another device?

On the MPx 220, go to Photo Album and select the picture you want. Make sure you point it to the folder where your picture you are wanting to said is located you can do this by, in Photo Album, hit Menu, Change Folder, and select the folder where you picture(s) you want to send is located. Then select the picture, hit Menu, Send Via, Bluetooth. It will search for near by BT devices (phones, computers, etc) so make sure whatever device you want to send the file to is in discoverable mode. Likewise you can do the same in File Manager, just select the file and hit Menu, Send&Recieve, Bluetooth.

I have a smt5600. when i select send, it doesn't give me an option to transfer my file by bluetooth only by via email and beam.

I see.....I am not sure then. Sorry hopefully someone with a SMT 5600 can help you.

The 5600 does not have the OBEX service with which you need to send files over bluetooth. It was disabled in the ROM I believe. The only thing that can be sent are contacts over BT.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Obex

IsEnabled (or something with the work enabled on it lol) If the value is 0 change it to 1, if it is 1 change it to zero...Hopefully this will enable OBEX for you guys.

This doesn't work, as I don't believe the driver exists to allow transfer of photos and videos, but for MPX users out there, I don't think this functionality is crippled.

Perhaps someone out there whose OBEX file transfer (transferring pics and media to another computer, etc) works could help us 5600 users out there!

What exists under your Mime types at the following key?

HKEY_local_machine\software\Microsoft\Obex\Service s\{000.........000}\MimeTypes\

I have only vCard and vCal for transfer of contact and calender "beaming". It looks as if those 2 functionalities use the same driver called pmutil.dll. Perhaps we can obtain the driver necessary to txfer photos to other devices as well with the input of additional keys and a driver?

Odd...I had no trouble using OBEX when I had a SMT 5600 a year ago or more.

BT will never appear. You must select beam and already have turned on your BT. You will then see a list of devices in your area that have BT enabled. You can select the device, and if all goes well, you will transfer the file to it....

Well, that's strange. Can you check on your MPX which MIME types you have listed in the reg?

Yea thats another think I don't like about the SMT5600....crappy BT functionalty...but it can be fixed like you said, new and improved drivers would fix it...good luck on finding some that will work....

Would i be able to receive file transfer from other devices? Or is that function disabled too?

on a related note, me and my buddy regularly exchange pics, mp3's, etc. between Mac and mpx220 over BT with no problem.. The only thiing is if he wants to send me a bigger file from his MAC, i am limited to the internal storage on the phone. for some reason he cannot find my storage card. any ideas on how i can transfer directly to storage card?

Do you have access to a registry editor to check on those settings I posted about? I'd like to get this to work.

OK, forget it then.

It turns out that file transfer using file explorer to a Mac works just fine. However, back to the phone from Mac doesn't. So far I haven't been able to send to a PC. That said, smartexplorer is a workaround from what others have reported.
