No Messaging Feature after upgrading to 1.43

Hi there

I just got my bluetooth adapter for my pc yesterday and was eager to use activesync via BT but struggled for nearly 24 hours straight (through the night) to get it to work. COM ports and the order of steps NOW seems soo simple.
In the whole process... when I couldnt get it to work, I suspected my rom (1.30) and my activesync (3.7 I thihk). So sometime in the night, I upgraded both (rom to 1.43 and ASync to 4.0). I upgraded the rom via the online updater.
I finally did get BT to work fine.

I noticed today that my phone, with 1.43 now and restored through Sprite (upgrading from diff rom option chosen), has NO MESSAGING FEATURES AT ALL!
The messaging link is there as the first one in my start menu but nothing happens when I choose it. However, it shows up as the first one on my homescreen in the recently clicked programs icons on top, right after clicking it.
On top of that, I am using the windows default theme for my homescreen. The one that shows "Text Messages: 0" at the bottom of the screen (thats how I remember it off my 1.30). However, that is not there on my homescreen anymore, it doesnt show the text messages thing on my homescreen anymore.
I dialed *min# and it said "request received blah blah blah a text msg will be sent" but I dont receive anything and even if I did I have no idea... no way to get into the messaging features...

SO TO SUM IT ALL UP:
for the people too lazy to read this fascinating story of my mixed BT-success/messaging-loss:
No messaging features at all after 1.43 upgrade and sprite restore!!
Otherwise, everything else is working great and BT rocks (my whole house is covered with this meager 10meter adapter) (my house is more than 10meters )!
Any ideas on what could be wrong and what I should do?
(Lets leave reflashing as the last resort, shall we? )

Thanks in advance.

Sprite restore screwed up and didn't restore your Messaging. Reflash with 1.430 and do NOT use sprite...it has issues sometimes. Install all your apps manually. That should fix your problem.

Reflashing will probably be your only resort. Since it didn't restore right, I don't think trying to restore again will fix it.

You could try a hard reset and see if that will fix it....but I doubt it will.

I guess I'm missing something obvious here... but how do you backup and restore your contacts when u reflash? dont u use sprite?
I dont mind reinstalling all the apps manually... but reinputting all the contacts manually would be a ..........

I actually would prefer to not use sprite if I could... coz I like the pristine virginity of a clean install! lol Like a clean win xp install after a full format! so fast... so quick... no programs... so untouched! lol...i digress

Edit: not only contacts... but the calendar too with the appointments

Office Outlook and ActiveSync is how you restore you contacts, type them all up in Contacts in Outlook, then do an ActiveSync and make sure you have to sync your contacts, you can also make it sync your notes, calender, and tasks.......thats one of the main features of the Windows Moblie Smartphone OS.

Outlook 2002 came on the Software CD that came with your phone...unless you got in on ebay it should of been included.

omega...dude ur fast!

Is there any other way apart from outlook?
Coz I try to stay away from outlook and instead use outlook express for my email. Because outlook has a LOT more features than I would use so I try to not even touch it as much as possible.

So is there a third way apart from outlook and sprite?

No not that I know of....well....you maybe able to use Lotus notes but I know nothing about that program...Just use outlook to sync your contacts....it will but much easier....

ok I guess outlook is my only option. Thanks for the quick replies omega.
