P900 Upgrade possible for EDGE?

Does anyon know if it is even possible to upgrade a phone to be able to use EDGE? I have T-Mobile and we're getting EDGE soon and was wondering if a software upgrade would be possible (not if they're going to do an upgrade but if it is possible). I got this phone recently and would love to see if Sony will or can release an upgrade for me to be able to take advantge of EDGE.

EDGE is a hardware thing, P900 just doesn't have the hardware to use EDGE

It seems to me that EDGE is very similar to GPRS I was reading something about how the cell phone companies can upgrade their network to EDGE with just software, so maybe phones can too?

but upgrading a network is different you can tack on different piece of hardware to it and change it completely.

chances are the phone network hardware has all the EDGE capable components but wasnt enabled as there was no hardware and now there is they can just upgrade. Not possible on the Pxxx at all im afraid.
