What happens w/5600 and a mac via usb?????!!!

Can anyone who has a working connection between their mac and an SMT5600 tell me what happens when you connect them via USB (NOT SYNC THEM just connect them)??? Does the phone mount? After this what is supposed to happen with PocketMac? So far my PB has done absolutely NOTHING when I plug in my 5600!!!! and PocketMac doesn't see the phone at all. I have tried everything, new USB, different port, followed ALL the troubleshooting steps. Audiovox is no help, all they said (and I mean ALL they said) was "send it in to us." PocketMac's tech support is taking FOREVER, they JUST got back to my support request today, its been like 2 days since I submitted it, I did what they asked (submit a report that was generated from their special debugging program) and I haven't heard anything since. Can anyone tell me anything at all PLEASE??? I hate wastes of money and that is all this has turned out to be so far.
